When they are used correctly (sitting on a non-elevated surface and supervised), they can still result in skull fractures. They're cute and useful and everyone knows lots of people who have used them without incident, but that doesn't make them safe.
Thanks for posting this! Our bumbos were good to use for about a month and then the girls just didn't want to stay in them. They would arch their backs, and it looked like they were going to fall out, even though they probably wouldn't have. Yikes!

We loved our bumbos but it didn't take very long before my kids would arch their backs and flip right out of them. Of course, I had enough common sense not to use them on an elevated surface. People need to quit being idiots and placing their kids in such precarious situations.
Mom to six awesome kids - Levi is 12, Landen is 8, Gabrielle is 6, Lucas is 3, and Oliver and Samuel are 2 years old. Love my crew.
My girls legs were too fat for the bumbo seat. I think we used it once.

Ugh now the page is unavailable from the Bumbo website. I agree that so much of this is common sense but I'm still going to get the kits to add to ours. Although both of my babies right now HATE the damn things. I just feel bad they are always laying down!
I saw the news story online yesterday but I wasn't able to find out how to get the kit until you posted.
my girls are pretty much out of with their bumbos but I'm not sure we're "done" and I have a friend who just found out she's expecting so it will get future use, one way or another.
