so I kind of like this name, if it's pronounced so that it rhymes with Danica, but behind the name says it's supposed to be AH-nee-ka... which I think sounds pretentious coming from me, even though it's the correct German pronunciation.

How do you feel about Anglocizing the pronunciation? I have a German last name, so they look go together, but I don't speak German.

Not a fan of it rhyming it with Danica. The two I know pronounce it so that it rhymes with Monica.

It rhymes with Monica. I've never seen/heard it pronounced like AN-ihk-uh, and I would assume anyone who tried to force that pronunciation was naming their daughter after Anakin Skywalker.

I have known people with this name and this is how I would pronounce it. I would never have thought to say it differently. I like it the way it should be said.

I went to high school with a girl who pronounced it rhyming with Monika. She spelled it Anneke.

I would say it either rhymes with Danica or Monica. I wouldn't say "Ah-nee-ka" because it has two "n"s in it. If it only had one "n" and was spelled "Anika" then I would pronounce it "Ah-nee-ka" like the actress Anika Noni Rose

When I look at it, I automatically pronounced it ANN-ica... as in rhymes with Danica.

hmmm, I hadn't thought of it rhyming with Monica, but that sounds nice too. something about AH-nee-ka just sounds weird to me.
