When did morning sickness end?

I'm 10 and a half weeks along, and I *think* my m/s is beginning to subside. But isn't it too early for this? I'm super-paranoid and somehow the awful m/s was sort of comforting to me. When did your symptoms ease up? I don't have another u/s for a week.

Re: When did morning sickness end?

  • My m/s for my first ended around 18 weeks.  This time I have it so much worse and it's killing me.  I can't wait for it to end.

That being said, everyone is different, and I bet you are probably fine.  :)

  • Mine was done about 16 weeks. That being said it still pops up every few weeks for a few days.

  • I didn't have much but what I did have really eased up around 10 weeks. I was also nervous when it started to get better, isn't it weird how being miserable can be a weird comfort? Try not to stress, I think it's totally different for everyone. You and I should just be thankful that it didn't last our entire pregnancies because I know of so many women who had to suffer through that and I just couldn't imagine.

Also, random side note: I am also a vegetarian! It's good to see another veggie twin mom. If you read Dr. Barbara Lukes book (which is highly recommend on here and does have lots of good non-nutrition advice) you may find yourself as frustrated as I was by her eating guidelines. They struck me as really irresponsible and unhealthy. I will say though that anemia is something I've struggled with so it may be worthwhile to really be conscious about adding lots of iron rich foods into your diet now (dried apricots, pumpkin seeds, kale...lots of options). My first doctor insisted that I couldn't have a healthy pregnancy without eating meat so he was quickly replaced by MUCH better doctors. For what it's worth my current doctors are continuously amazed and commenting on how great I look and how picture perfect my pregnancy has been so I hardly think that not having steak for three meals a day did me or my babies any harm. I went off on a little bit of a rant there...sorry! Anyway, long story short, you can have an amazing pregnancy and still be a vegetarian, don't let anyone tell you otherwise (and people WILL try to tell you otherwise). Smile

  • Mine was terrible from about 6 weeks until about 16 weeks.  This past week has been 'easing' up but by no means is my m/s gone.

I am still taking my Zofran once a day but don't get to the edge of almost vomiting even while on the Zofran like I had been.

I wouldn't worry too much, consider yourself lucky!  That being said, I know it can be hard not to worry when symptoms disappear, but m/s is one of those that *should* go away.  Also, not to jinx you but this may just be a few days where you feel a little bit better but it will come back full strength or worse - mine did that to me multiple times.

  • I only had morning sickness from 7-10 weeks. It just abruptly stopped one morning. Maybe you are another lucky one!

  • Mine never ended.  I was sick right up until delivery.   Threw up every day (most days multiple times) and nauseated most of day.  I tried medication (Zofran) and everything under the sun.

Every person is different.  I hope your m/s ends soon!!

  • It subsided around 10 weeks and then came back in little spurts for the next eight weeks.

This is my siggy. Love it.

  • Mine lasted until 16 weeks. I did have one week at around week 11 where it was completely gone and I thought it was over. Then it came back the next week and lasted until that 16th week. Every woman is different and maybe you are lucky and it is over for you.

  • Mine ended around 15 weeks.  I just woke up one morning and felt human again.

Try not to worry - some women luck out and don't get m/s at all!

  • Hey hun!  I was googling the heck out of this over the weekend because on Saturday and Sunday I felt like a new person, so I worried as well.  I read that a lot of people start to feel better as early as 9 weeks.  I paid for it yesterday though and was very sick.  So, I guess at this point it will come and go and embrace the good days.  I am sure your babes are doing great!!!!!!!

  • I think 10 weeks is a normal time to feel better.  Everyone is different so don't worry too much.  Do you have an NT scan coming up?  Nothing like an u/s to make you feel better about everything.

  • I think mine is on the way out. I thought it was going away last week, but it returned randomly for a couple days (less intense though :) ). It has been absent for three or four daya again and i am starting to feel normal again.
  • I threw up pretty much every day from 6 weeks until 25 weeks. After that, I had nausea off and on until I delivered. That said, my doctor told me many women experience a lessening of symptoms around 9-10 weeks, so I think what you're feeling is normal.

  • It started to fade at about 16 weeks. I would just notice here and there that I didn't feel sick.

But then with both pregnancies it came back again for about a week later in the 3rd tri :(

  • Thanks everyone for your experiences. I've stepped off the ledge :)

And PurrCrasher, thanks for chiming in! I have read Dr. Luke's book, and am so glad to hear your story! I actually met with a dietician today, and she was very helpful in getting an idea of what I need to be eating (and it's a lot more than what I'm doing now!) Hopefully when my appetite reappears I can get back into food.
