So I've got a small one, gals question is, will it go away after baby? Or what measures can I take to help it along? I've gotten Tucks pads, and preparation H. It soothes it but has not made it go away... Thanks ladies!
i'm making sure to take breaks throughout the day-my midwife suggested I go horizontal a bit to help go against gravity (hence, they peek out my rear end from being too vertical too long). So, i'll lay down 30 min here and there when I can. I also do "legs of the wall" yoga posture to counteract and that has helped..i do it once in am and once in pm for 10 min each time. Simple but effective. Plus, wipes, and cream if it gets more serious. Trying to be more preventive than anything as mom got them when she was preggers and post delivery--a common thing. It sucks but trying even to eat anti inflammatory diet pre delivery (canteloupe, pineapple), with lots of fiber (lentil soup post delivery) and water to prepare for the joys of what s coming. (:
Im sad to admit that Ive become a hemi expert after the delivery of DD1 brought a serious case into my life. Your prepH cream and the tucks pads are the best ways to ease the pain and reduce the size and you can also try suppositories (especially if you suspect internal hemi issues) and sitz baths.
Whether the actual physical bulge (for lack of a better term) will go back to "normal" is dependent on how bad it is. Minor ones will usually shrink up but you'll be more prone to flare ups now that youve had one and that bulge will come back off and on forever. More serious ones, like the ones I had/have, will never go away. The pain and sensitivity may come and go but your "innie" will forever be an "outie" ;( Time will tell. It sucks. I know.

for me-- no, it never went away after DS. I have an external one (TMI I know, but this post kind of calls for TMI).
It does not bother me at all... ie) i don't get flare ups, I just think it looks disgusting. So I intend to have it surgerically removed after I have this one (which will be my last). I went to a surgeon after DS and he suggested to wait until I was done having kids and then do it.
Honestly-- since I only have 1, it should not be a difficult recovery (in and out surgery), so if they really bother you, talk to your doctor after birth and see what they suggest. After I went to my general internist (my OBGYN suggested starting with him if I wanted to talk about removal), he referred me to a general surgeon for a consult. I know am in his system and will directly call him a few months post pardum this time to get the surgery scheduled.
yikes, i'm not sure. I would think it could get a lot worse pushing.
I never had them until after the delivery of my first. I had external and internal. I don't doctor so I tried taking care of it myself. Nothing OTC worked.
Had to go to a walk in clinic. It was bad Big lesson learned!!!!
