AMH test

I just saw an RE for a first appointment 1 week ago and she asked to run an Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) test to check for ovarian reserve (I was on cycle day 5, so I have to wait for next cycle to do the FSH test too).  I haven't heard back from her yet, but already got my test results and they came in on the low end  (0.76 ng/mL) for my age.  Do any of you know whether this is a concern?  I don't want to be overbearing and start calling this RE already, but I'm sort of left just sitting here to wonder and worry!

    It can be and is a much better indicator than the FSH level.  The AMH level is related to your AFC and ovarian reserve.  USUALLY the lower the AMH the fewer follies you'll produce

    KdgTeacher is right but I wanted to add that the AMH test is not the final line type of test that you base everything off of.  I know it's hard to worry about things individually but try not to get too upset over just this one test.  Wait until all your results come back before you get concerned about your situation.

    Well, this is a bummer!  I guess I will just have to wait to talk with my RE and follow through with the rest of the "work-up" labs.

    I'm sorry the news wasn't better.  FWIW there's a woman on Pregnant after Infertility who got a suprise BFP with a similar AMH so don't lose hope. Good luck to you moving forward.

    labs in siggy. much worse than yours, but I was also 34 at that time. Your sig pic is small but you look younger than I for sure. It's not a great value, but remember, it's just a piece of the puzzle. Your FSH and antral follicle count are other things to have measured.

    Thanks for the replies- it is comforting to know that low AMH doesn't outright mean there's no chance for a BFP someday.  I'm 28, so I should be happy that I didn't wait much longer before TTC & seeing an RE.   I guess I need to stop checking in on Dr. Google and just wait for the rest of my tests to come through!
