Can someone please recommend a vaccuum. We have a dog that sheds and two that don't. We've gone through three vaccuums in two years! I'm annoyed and want a reliable one.

I too love my dyson but we recently got a Bissel Lift Off Pet and it is soooo nice. The canister lifts off which allows me to quickly carry it to get pet hair out of the corners of the rooms and off the couch etc. It also comes with attachments with teeth that are perfect for getting hair off things. It works very well and is very easy to clean. I can take the whole canister apart and blow it out in a matter of minutes.
We bought this vacuum expressly for the use for our shedding dogs to give our Dyson a break (way to expensive to break lol).

So true. Our Dyson did break, less than 3 years after we bought it (and we don't have dogs, just 1 short-hair cat). When we took it to a repair shop, the cost to repair it was almost as much as replacing it. The repair shop (which was also, conveniently, a vacuum store) told us they hate Dysons and talked us into a Miele (also expensive). It also broke after 2 years, but we were able to get a replacement part for a somewhat-reasonable price and we still have it. It works great, but when it dies I am only buying cheap vacuums.

We have a nice dyson and a cheap dirt devil that I bought for about 60 when I first moved to the US, I prefer the dirt devil , with our 3 pets and lots of hair, it does a great job.

We love our Dyson, purchased in 2007, still works great. I will say that they've made a lot of changes since we bought ours and I get a little bit jealous of some of the new features. But not jealous enough to spend that kind of $$ on a new one when our current one still kicks butt.
