I'm on hour 30 of my induction for pre-e and haven't eaten in that time. I've had juice and some broth and two onion rings that my dh snuck in for me. I'm really hungry and this is not going quickly. A nurse came into the room and I mentioned to my DH that I was hungry. The nurse said, "You have this baby and you can eat whatever you want." I wanted to look at her and say, "Thank you! I wasn't aware that that was all I had to do. I've been slacking off because I was under the impression that I could just eat whenever I wanted. I'll get right on that for you now."
I know it's not her fault that I can't eat, but I could eat a horse right now.

Send your H for food. Seriously. If anyone asks, it's for him. I've read several birth stories where the mom was having a super long labor and a little food put her over the edge and she delivered the baby an hour or two later.
I did this for breakfast and lunch while in labor with DS.
I agree!
Ugh, I couldn't eat during my PreE induction and I HATED it too!
That said, is there any REAL reason why you're not allowed to eat? Is it because you're on Mag Sulfate? Being on Mag threw me for a loop, so I listened to them when they told me not to eat, but in hindsight, I totally should have.
Why are they telling you not to eat? Is that reason really valid? If it's not, I'd just eat!

I plan to sneak food when I'm at the hospital if I feel hungry. My research shows there's a greater danger of me succumbing to induction meds/c-section because of exhaustion due to low fuel than there is of me aspirating that food if I need general anesthesia (which is RARELY used, anymore, even with c-sections).
It is a really stupid rule. How are you expected to have the energy to finish? Chances of you undergoing general anesthesia and aspirating is practically zero.

That sucks...I think I'd just get some food and eat in front of them. Then when they say it's against policy, you just say, "Okay, then put it in my chart so the anestesiologist knows exactly when I went against policy if it comes to that."
...baby #3 is here...
Yep! I'm on team eat something NOW, mama!
They cannot MAKE you not eat. You are aware of the risks, and if you choose to go against their policy that is your call.
How is the induction going otherwise?
Hang in there, mama!
This would be me. I hope you get food soon!

Exactly! Get some food, and feel better! You need nourishment!!
You are grounded and are NOT LEAVING this L&D Ward, young lady! Don't give me that look...
Yeah, get something to eat. If it comes down to it and you need an emergency c-section, fess up that you ate so they know. Better to ask forgiveness than permission in this case IMO.
Have your hubby get you something, even if it's a protein bar or the like.
I'm so glad my hospital was more enlightened. I was induced (overdue) and it took two and a half days. I was allowed to eat full meals until I was on Pitocin AND in active labor, and even then, when I 'wasn't allowed' to eat, they offered me graham crackers, saltines, popsicles, juice, or water.
They also asked me for my food order before I went into transition and entered it for me as soon as I delivered, so that it was ready and hot for me after our 'golden hour' with our daughter.
I really hope she has a baby by now.
Otherwise, she's 3 days in and probably starved to death.

But, but... aspiration and hospital policy!!11!
This is what I plan on doing if my labor goes long. What are they gonna do? Kick you out?
