Hi there! We are wanting to adopt privately, we have our home study and a fabulous social worker. As well as our adoption attorney. However we are in a small town with little contacts to find a bm. Does anyone have any ideas. The Internet is pretty scary and there are a lot of scams out there, it gets discouraging!
Our website is up and running:
www.lindsayandleviadopt.com
Thank you for any advise! We know our perfect match is out there, we are just anxious to find them:
Re: Looking for good resources for private adoption
Where do you live? If you can use a facilitator, I'd consider doing so to expose you to as many situations as possible.
Network, get on mailing lists, let friends and family know.... and be patient. It takes time.
This site is really a supportive site for people of the triad. It's not a place you'll have much opportunity to network but listen for stories of how others connected.
FWIW- I have an odd story.. not enough time to share but I will say through a strange twist of circumstances, a letter that was sent to an OB's office ended up in the hands of a birht family. So taking time to send letters to as many law offices, social workers, OBs, etc is one tactic. It sort of worked for us
