Re: Showers

  • This is terrible but I didn't feel like I fell into any of those categories. It is not strictly every other day, or every day, and I am not a dirty bird lol. Some weeks it is two days in a row, then skip a day (or two lol... I know) then take 3 in a row. I am sporadic since I have not been working, so clicked SS instead of "most days" although that would probably be closest. And instead of indulging in the anonymity of the CP, I chose to out myself lol.

I am the exact same way! I clicked most days since that was closest.

  • I'm typically every day, but occasionally miss a day here and there. I try not to because I run everyday and get nasty and sweaty so it's  not cool if I don't bathe every day lol

  • Okay...it's me. I used to be a solid every other day kind of girl. These days, I frequently find myself realizing that it's Thursday, and the last time that I showered was Monday. I'm easily distracted, and I usually think of something else that I need to do at nap time. I know, it's gross... Some days it makes me very sad that I don't think of myself very much. It's definitely something I need to work on.

No I get it! I am heading back to work in a couple weeks and I so look forward to having to shower at least 5 days a week. And get dressed in semi- professional garb and put makeup on! Seriously.

I am like that with washing my hair, so I totally get it.

  • Almost every day. However, sometimes that shower doesn't happen until 9pm. Before having a baby, I never ever ever missed a day of showering. I guess I have let myself go.

  • SS - 2 times a week.  Usually on Tuesdays or Wednesdays and Saturdays nights or Sunday mornings.  I've gone "No Poo" and as a result my hair doesn't look greasy or dirty for 3-4 days.  I do a dry wash of my body and the "pits" if I've been biking or exercising.  We try to use as little unneccessary water as possible.  I'll dry wash so DD can have a bath every day to every other since she really is getting dirty playing outside.

  • I only actually shower every other day (sometimes every three days).  I work out 6 days a week and do a wipe down on non shower days with wet wipes or a wet cloth.  My hair and skin get so dry if I shower every day.

  • Every day...sometimes twice.  I didn't miss a shower when K was born either.   I sweat like crazy.  Once at a ballgame, it looked like I had pee'd my pants.  When I work out, I am soaked and stinky.  K is already the same way.  I only wash her with soap every other day, but she will get sweaty and sticky if it is warm outside.

This is me too. I work out 6 days a week and I sweat like a pig. A daily shower is a must for me. If I don't work out or I'm sick and did nothing but lay around all day, then I might not shower. But then the next day I take a looong, hot shower to compensate.

E gets a bath every day too. Poor thing sweats a lot for a baby and I don't want to have a stinky kid.

All of this. I only wash my hair once a week. It never gets oily anymore because I allowed it to build up and give my scalp and hair what it needed. The oils are not gross. they are there to promote healthy hair and scalp. You need them. Now they are regulated and my scalp and hair are healthy and shiny.

As for the not showering but twice a week

"The outermost layer of your skin's surface (called the stratum corneum or horny layer) is a barrier made of hardened, dead skin cells. These skin cells offer protection for the underlying layers of living, healthy cells. The horny layer is more than just dead skin cells; it's held together by lipids, which are fatty compounds that actually help maintain moisture in your skin.

Anytime you take a shower -- especially a hot one -- with soap and a scrubbing device like a washcloth or a loofah, you're undermining the integrity of your skin's horny layer. The soap and the hot water dissolve the lipids in the skin and scrubbing only hastens the process. The more showers you take, the more frequently this damage takes place and the less time your skin has to repair itself through natural oil production. What's more, the horny layer of your skin can be sloughed off by scrubbing, exposing the delicate skin cells beneath. The result of showering too frequently is generally dry, irritated and cracked skin."

  • I aim for every other day but have been known to stretch that. I don't really sweat though. I get dry skin and hair if I do it every day.

That is sooo true too about the "horny layer" (I love that term BTW).  Back in the day when I soud shower every day or pushing it was every other day I had to use lotion all over like crazy or my skin would crack and itch like crazy.  Now I never need to use lotion and my skin feels great!
