sore sensitive mouth/lips and swollen glands

Also on 3rd Trimester

I'm experiencing the strangest symptoms. For about the last week my lips have been very sensitve and feel dry but aren't chapped. They are a little bit swollen and red but do not have any sores on them. I can no longer eat spicy or acidic foods. The inside of my mouth is also more sensitve. I've always eaten very spicy foods and now I barely can. Also, my glands on my neck are extremely swollen. My OBGYN thinks I may be fighting off a small virus. Although he's not too concerned he's having me see my primary care doctor this afternoon to get it checked out. He told me that my baby isn't in any harm at all. He thinks the swollen glands and sensitive mouth/lips are connected. He doesn't think it's herpes because I've been tested and I don't have sores. What in the world could it be? I'm 37 weeks.

  • Do you have food allergies?

  • I never have but who knows with pregnancy. It's so weird.
  • Did you ever find out what is going on with your mouth b/c I have the exact same symptoms and read an article about some symdrome sometimes caused by hormones.  Since you were pregnant and I am in menopause they say some of the symptoms are the same and both categories have increased incidence of this.  I remember when I was pregnant thinking I was allergic to the toothpaste and ended up thinking I had found one that did not cause problems but years later I got brave and tried that toothpaste and did NOT have a problem so I wasn't allergic to the toothpaste. My dentist and doctor said it seemed to be allergic and not viral and sent me to allergist.  I have now gone to an allergist who has given me several possibilities but no exact diagnosis.  Just wondered if your ever found out anything.
