Mine was 16 years ago- agh- so it's kind of fuzzy! Our first date was a party at my now BIL's dad's house. I remember he got in the pool and I didn't have a swimsuit so I hung out with another friend for a lot of it! It seems like we really only talked in the car! But, luckily, he asked me out again! I was 18 so I had no clue we would ever be married!
I met my husband when I was 15, I have no clue what our first date was lol. We where on again - off again until we were 21 when we officially started dating... yet again I don't think we had a real first date. We ran into each other at a bar after not talking for 1.5 years and ya the rest is history.
Our first date was 5 yrs ago. We just went out for dinner, took a nice walk around the park and talked. It was actually really nice, especially since I had just broken up with a real 'winner' who paid very little attention to me. Talking about it now, it sounds so boring though
Well, the first time we hung out we went "out" with a bunch of friends and I of course got completely shitfaced and got mad at the boy I had recently broken up with and ugly-cried in front of him. I was a klassy winner. He held me while I cried and tried to make me feel better. He asked me out on a real date the next morning and took me to a nice dinner. Lucky for me, my rebound date became DH and we are living happily ever after.

It was Christmas time and I had been in my village for about a week (I was a Peace Corps Volunteer). DH and a couple of the other guys from the farm school I was working at invited me to go to the next village over to go to a "bar". We walked 3 or 4 miles to get to this shack that only had warm beer. After we finished drinking our beer we started the walk back to our village, but got offered a ride from some drunk guy on a motorcycle. He proceeded to drive us into a ditch, so we decided to walk the rest of the way while the other guys braved the motorcycle. We took the long way back and had a great conversation while strolling under the stars in the middle of nowhere.
Well, we first met on eHarmony. Our first official in-person date was at Granite City Brewery, which we were there for a little over 3 hours! It was wonderful and I learned then that he homebrews beer, so I know we should at least go out on a 2nd date, so I could try some of that. ;o) I could tell that he was pretty shy when it came to girls, so when we were saying goodbye out in the parking lot, I kissed him! We had three other "dates" within a week!
BTW, the beer is AWESOME! We always have at least two varities on tap in our house.

MH & I met in HS. I was dating someone else but he incessantly asked me out. I never told him yes until a couple years after he graduated, I was working part time at Subway (the sandwich place) during HS and he would come in and visit with me every night after he got out of work. (He always bought a sub, but never ate it, he would bring them home for his Dad for work the next day, just as an excuse to see me)
I got over the worrying about what everyone else thought about me dating him and finally agreed to go out after him pestering me for a month. I was overly concerned in HS about what everyone else thought about me, I wanted so badly to be popular. I'm so glad I got over that!!
We went to a local diner, then went and saw John Q (With Denzel Washington) at a theatre that doesn't exist anymore (it was plowed under and they built a Lowes where it used to be). We've been together 10.5 years, and married for almost 5.
We met on Match.com so our first date was the first time we met in person. We had been e-mailing for about 3 weeks and had talked on the phone once.
We went to a really fancy restauraunt for dinner and then across the street to a bar for a drink. After drinks we walked around downtown for a bit. Neither of us was ready for the date to be over so we went to his house and watched Sideways.
I wasn't totally crazy about him in the beginning but he seemed nice so I went out with him a few more times. Then one day I realized I was totally in love ... the rest is history!
Thefixer, i totally got the chills reading the last part.
Our first date was to Friday's for dinner, than we drove around talking for a few hours! It was simple but nice. The next handful of dates were much more exciting.
Joolz, I'm klassy like you! I also met MH at a neighborhood bar.
On our first date, I ended up working late and not being able to make it to dinner, so we went to another local bar for mango mojitos so yummy! and then another place to hear some live music. Afterward, he walked me home and we kissed in a manner very inappropriate for the public sidewalk lol!
I went home thinking that he was really hot and smart. I was also pleasantly surprised he wasn't a republican.
MH worked as a tech in the lab next to mine. We were always checking each other out but never made any moves. Finally, a friend of mine wanted to go fishing. Since I was not that familiar with the best fishing spots in the area I asked my now DH where to go and invited him to come along. I then invited him on a 2nd fishing trip. He finally got up the nerve to ask me on a date. We went to see the movie Cars and then we were supposed to go to dinner but we never made it to a restaurant.
We were set up by mutual friends. They invited DH to the Irish Festival where we were dancing under the guise of him taking pictures for our school. We walked around the festival and listened to some bands. Then a whole group of us went out to dinner. We didn't really get to talk that much. Both of us wanted to know if we even wanted to get to know each other, so we made plans to meet at a bar after dinner, alone. We had awesome conversation and afterwards, he walked me to my car, and I was thinking "Please kiss me." (in the desperate teenager sort of way). He leaned in, I closed my eyes, and he gave me a peck on the cheek. I drove home thinking "WTF. Did he not have as good of a time as I did?" Later he told me it was all part of his smooth moves, to make me want him more...Sneaky, but I guess it worked.
Our first date was on NYE at the Frog Pond in the Boston Commons. Although, it was during the day time because we both had to work at 4am the next day haha.
At first, I thought he was a "playa" and didn't have any expectations of our date. But he surprised me by the end of it :-) Our first kiss was super awkward, a homeless person came up to us in the middle of it asking if we had any spare change... at least it was memorable lol.
Like 4 months? I was a single mom with 0 interest in being in a relationship. He took a chance on proposing and we got married about a week later because it was the first day we could. His sister was a senior in HS and her mom write her a note to leave school early since it was a Friday, she and E were the only people who came. The whole thing was very movie romantic but also partially for legal reasons school financial aid, health insurance, custody battle. That was almost 4 1/2 years ago and MH is awesome. He is my best friend and not in the " Oh he's my husband so he's my default best friend" but he is actually my best friend. We dealt with a lot of really hard things for being as young and as newly married as we were at the time and I really believe that there's no way our marriage would have lasted if he were anyone else even if we'd been together for 10 years before we got married. We had a church wedding and the priest gave a speech about what our sponsor couple told a deacon about how moved they were by our love for each other, it was very sweet even his groomsmen were crying.
We met at my sister's house party, she was dating dh's cousin. We got drunk together and slept together. I'm super klassy. I got back together with my ex shortly after, but then broke up with him about 8 months later and dh asked me out. He took my son and I fishing and then out to eat. We moved in together about 2 months after that. We just had this instant connection(or maybe it was the alcohol), but when we first met I had a lot of drama going on in my personal life.

Ha! That would make for an unforgettable first kiss!
DH and I had been best friends since we were 12. I had feelings for him right from the time we met, but didn't think he'd ever be into me. We stayed friends throughout middle and high school (I "dated" a string of real winners along the way), and finally one day he confessed that he was in love with me. Me, being 16 and naive didn't want to ruin our friendship so I kind of blew him off.
Fast forward a couple months and I realized that I was crazy and if I wanted him I should really do something. We were still close friends, and one weekend he invited me over to watch a football game so he could teach me all about it (he played all throughout high school and I knew nothing about football). We were in the middle of watching the game and I kissed him out of nowhere. He was caught off guard and didn't know what to say, so he just kissed me back.
It's not the "traditional" first date because we had known each other for so long beforehand, but I think it makes it unique. I still get butterflies thinking about that kiss 9 years later
I was a first year at Uni, (17 years ago!!) just arrived and was checking out the guys when this guy walked into the bar. My words words when I saw him were, "What on earth is that??!!"
He cld have been from south america, south east Asia, possibly cld have been an arab but whatever he was, he was stunning! I later learned that he hadnt had a GF as he was waiting for "the One". We ended up being in the same circle of friends.
Fast forward one year and we hooked up. He came up to my dorm room, with his best friend,(one of my ex boyfreinds) who was after some weed. and we ended up talking all night, and the next 3 or 4 nights. Then all our friends took notice so we decided to give them something to talk about
Our first official date was to the movies to see The Game with Michael Douglas and Sean Penn. He asked me to marry him 3 months later and I obviously said yes.
Because we are klassy like that, DH and I met on a tour bus while touring for a metal band in Europe. I am not sure we ever had a real first date. Technically, we hung out a lot during and after work and finally acted on it Greece. I had pneumonia and he took care of me. It was the last gig and I was sick as a dog. We kissed the first time after the show and had to part ways the day after and didn't see each other for three months. We skyped every day, though, and well...the rest is history.

We never really had a first date. We met at my work (a restaurant), he was visiting a mutual friend and she introduced us. The next night a group of us went to see The Golden Compass and then ended up at a friend's house party. At the end of the night, he walked me to my car and we ended up making out. We have never been apart since.
We went to a mutual friend's birthday party, then to another friend's house for another party.
To paint the picture, the second party was in this kind of punk flop-house. I wore a tight 1950s party dress, satin gloves, a vintage wool trench, and converse high tops. He wore ripped jeans, a studded leather jacket, and a Dead Milkmen tee shirt.
We stayed up all night at the flop-house, talking and watching infomercials on the couch, with like 8 people on the floor around us in various stages of passing out.
When the sun came up, we walked a few blocks back to his friend's house where he was staying (he was visiting from Michigan at the time). We watched Taxi Driver, cuddled in a sleeping bag on the hardwood floor in the spare bedroom. Then we had sex. That was in February.
I think we spent a total of about four hours apart until he took the train home to Michigan 10 days later, and we were together constantly for the first five or six days. So I guess our first date lasted five or six days, lol. We talked every day after he got home. He got a couple of jobs to save money, sold all of his stuff, and moved to California that June. We moved into a 350 square foot studio apartment. It was heavenly.
Re: GTKY- First dates
Because I am klassy, I met my husband at a bar. We had mutual friends there. We made out in the corner.
I suppose the next night was officially our first date. We had sushi and saw Red Eye.
You are awesome!

We were in highschool so a bit limited!
Wow! How long had you known each other?
