Healthy Remedies?

I am 20 weeks pregnant with twins. I feel great with 2 exceptions (which are not even that horrible).

1. Charlie Horses in my calves that are excruciating and wake me up in the night. Then for the next 2 days I'll have a limp as a result of the cramp.

2. My abdomen feels really sore, almost like a pulled muscle or bruising. I guess this might be my body making room?

Any of you ladies know any safe remedies for my 2 simple ailments? Like I said, these are simple problems in the big scheme of things...just curious if anyone else had these and how they coped.

Re: Healthy Remedies?

  • My doc said to up my milk intake to 4-5 glasses a day, charley horses went away. The bruising feeling went away a few weeks after delivering, but just got worse until then (and my doc said she couldn't do anything about it). Wearing my support belt helped some.

  • Interesting. I already go through over a gallon a milk a week but I will try to increase my calcium even more.

I'm glad to hear you confirming the bruising feeling too. Its not something I've heard a lot of people mention so I wasn't sure if it was normal.

  • I have no direct experience with pregnancy related charley horses, but can say that potassium will help with muscle cramps.  Try eating a banana before bed.
