C-sections

So itchy--everywhere!!!

Hello all I had my c section almost 2 weeks ago.Everything has been fine and dandy until the other day I started itching my inner thigh like crazy! Now today I have itchy rashes in both legs that continue to itch and spread. I stopped taking the Percocet I was prescribed because I'm feeling a lot better and don't need it. I was taking the Motrin 800 until today but am afraid it is causing the itching!!!Anyone else going through this??Inthought maybe t was my detergent but it is the same I've always used. Pyrex- no colors or smells or dyes. So I'm at a loss. Sending hubby up now to get a topical Benadryl so I can stop itching for 3 seconds-ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Re: So itchy--everywhere!!!

  • How long ago did you stop the Percocet?  Coming off of narcotics can cause itching.

Did the rashes come before the itching or are they a result of the scratching?  If they don't go away in a day, or if benadryl gel/cream doesn't help, I'd call your doctor.

  • It is a result of the itching. Benadryl seems to help the itching. For now. Ugh
  • you can get the pregnancy rash puppps after giving birth which is extremely itchy.  I would call the dr. in the AM if you are still itchy.  It could be so many things, but there is no reason to suffer like that.  feel better!

  • I had a similar reaction to Percocet which began about a week after my first c/s. My doctor gave me some kind of topical medication, I don't remember what. It was bad enough that I didn't take Percocet at all after my RCS - fortunately tylenol and Motrin were adequate. I would have hated to get the itching again.

  • My post c/s itching was caused by my steristrips on top of the incision.  Once those were removed the itching gradually went away.  I also got a rash and hives, BAD on my inner thighs and the backsides of my arms at my armpit/shoulder area.

They Rx'd me hydrocortisone for immediate relief, but the strips had to be removed in order for the issue to resolve.

  • I had my c-section 9 days ago and about 6 days after i also go the itchy rash on my thighs, and also on my stomach. Called my doctor and they said it could be from the surgical prep. They told me to take benedryl and if it gets worse call them.

Well a day later I started getting another rash, this time smaller almost blister like bumps on my ankles, hands, and palms, it has spread up my legs and down my arms. It is extremely itchy. Went to a urgent care and they advised me to take claritin or zyrtec. It may be a reaction to the oxycodone i was taking for pain. I stopped taking it yesterday morning.  Well I took a zyrtec today and it has done nothing. At least the benedryl helped a little bit and put me to sleep for a bit. I am wide awake and can't stop the itching. I've got newborn twins I am trying to take care of and can't get any sleep now that I am up itching. I'm miserable and I can't take another benedryl until tomorrow since I took the zyrtec today.

Hopefully you can get some sleep with your itchy rash.
