Natural induction at home??

Ok so I have heard many things to do..  But I was wondering what are the kinds of things you have heard/done to get the ball rolling?

Not going to try any.  Just wondering :D

Re: Natural induction at home??

  • I don't know why you'd ask if you aren't going to try any. While it's true that the baby won't come naturally until the baby is ready, there are things we can do that have at least been shown to help things progress faster in many cases, and they don't hurt regardless.

We've been having sex plus I've been taking evening primrose oil orally in order to try to utilize the prostaglandins to ripen my cervix. Neither will "induce" me, but I feel like if it can help ready my cervix, it can't hurt. I've also been spending time on by birth/exercise ball, just bouncing up and down and doing circles with my hips to try to get the baby's head to put pressure on my cervix. And then there's good old fashioned walking, which I've been trying to do as much as possible even though it's not the most comfortable thing in the world.

Will any of it ultimately help? Who knows. But we don't have much control over this process so I feel like if there's anything that I can do that MIGHT help things along, I might as well do what I can and just know that whatever happens, happens!

  • Evening primrose oil can be harmful. Before taking anything ask a pharmacist. They highly recommended against it.

Can you see an acupuncturist? They can induce naturally using pressure points.

I've never heard anyone caution against EPO...castor oil can be harmful though.

Yes, it's castor oil that can be really questionable. Because of that I won't be trying it. EPO is very commonly, widely recommended by midwives.

But regardless, if you ask a pharmacist anything at all, chances are they'll tell you to just ask your doctor. And then, chances are your doctor will either shrug or say no, since they're not usually trained on more natural options (there's no money in them, either).
