I believe I had the best 2 hours of my life on Sunday. I'm still on cloud nine and can't think of anything that could top it. It's quiet simple actually. I was attending my sister in law's baby shower, which was held about 30 mins north. The shower was really nice and everyone is so happy for them, they'v been TTC for about 4 years and knew it would be a long road due to medical conditions. She found out she was pregnant at the Dr.'s during a routine pregnancy test before IVF. Obviously this was a shocker. They were told the chances of conceiving on their own would be almost impossible. So anyway, it was a joyous day, lots of happy tears, good food and great company.
On my way home, I texted DD's mom and said "Hey, I'm in your neck of the woods at a baby shower, would it suit for me to come over and play with your kiddos for a little?" and she said YES! This never happened before (a spur of the moment visit). I was so excited in my 10 minute drive to their house.
AM didn't tell DD I was coming, the kids were all playing outside. AM met me in the driveway and we walked back around the house together and DD looked up, ran over to me and hugged me saying "No one told me you were coming over today!!", she was so happy to see me.
We played outside (wiffle ball, swings, trampoline, in the pool) for about 2 hours and I left before dark. It was perfect, just playing in the backyard with her (and her siblings). I had a blast!! No gifts, no party, no big occasion, just normalcy.
Some of you may remember an earlier post, DD was taking the "I'm adopted, I'm special" thing to her head and we were working on ways to tone everything down. Her birthday is in 3 weeks and we will still have a normal visit with my parents and brother at that time. But this was just DD and I. It rocked. I gave her a big hug and a kiss good-bye and told her I loved her and that quick she said it right back to me My heart skipped a beat. I remember the first time she said it to me, about 2 years ago, she was unsure, maybe a little nervous, but not anymore.
She has been a little disobedient lately (per AM), and I noticed some of her attitude on Sunday. When I hugged her good-bye, I told her "I want you to remember to be obedient to your parents, I want you to be a good girl". She looked at me and said she would. I was smitten.
Anyway. That's my story. I love her. Sorry for rambling!

Oh! I'm so happy for you!!! That is heart melting!
Also- she's just kind of at an age where attitude is starting, my stepson was the same way and now so is my Godaughter. It stinks, but I love that you said something to her.
Yay for spur of the moment, awesome visits!
