I would really like to move on to back carrying, but I'm having trouble telling if certain carriers can be work on your back. I'm just a little confused. So tell me about yours!
I have two ring slings right now. I like them i general, but having all her weight on one shoulder is kind of difficult. I switch sides every time I use it but I would like something which distributes the weight more evenly.
I just ordered a BabyHawk Oh Snap. I've obviously not gotten to use it yet, but can let you know how it goes. Some others I researched we're the Boba 3G and the Onya. There are a lot of videos and websites with info about all of these carriers. The videos were on YouTube. All of this helped me choose what I thought would work best for us.
We like our Boba 2g, Nice and roomy for our 1 yr old chunky boy. The 3g is the exact same except they modified it to work for newborns as well. The 2g is only good for 15+ lbs. Save the money and get the 2g IMO.
If you want something SUPER easy for back carries, you can get an Olives and Applesauce carrier with a built in harness so your baby doesnt fall out when you're doing back carries on your own. All their lingo is pretty hard to understand but basically they make a carrier that comes with an optional harness/insert thing

I saw a gently used Olives and Applesauce carrier that sounds like this one on frogmama.com in the clearance section the other day. It might be worth a look.
If your RS is long enough you could do a ruck with it. Look on YouTube for "rucksack ring sling" .
Mother wise pretty much any decent SSC will allow you to back carry as well as MT (except for authentic Chinese ones).
PLEASE do not do a ruck with a ring sling. Ruck tied under the bum is an advanced wrap carry that requires precision tightening to be safe and secure. Doing it with ring prevents tightening it properly and changes the dynamic of the carrier. To even be remotely safe, you'd need a super long sling - one that's annoyingly long - so that you don't risk the tail slipping through the rings. This is a bad "fad" in babywearing - DON'T do it!
You can do a regular back carry in the sling - with the sling worn "normally" over one shoulder. But I'd only recommend that for an older baby or toddler who you can trust not to lean or wiggle.
Re: Recommend your backpack carrier!
I use both my Ergo and mei tai for back carries.
Do you have a carrier already, and if so, what?
