If you eat mainly (or all) organic, this might interest you..
When i travel, i love to buy fresh fruit from a little vendor or a cart from the side of the street, especially if we travel somewhere warm. But oh no, not any more.
I was talking to my husband's friend's wife yesterday and she is originally from Florida. Her uncle goes to Costco/BJ type stores and buys fruit in bulk and sells them on the side of the road as if he grown it in his back yard.
I am a bit sad to know people do that, but than again, of course they do -it's all about making a dollar. I'm just a little shocked.
Re: not so organic as i thought..
This does not surprise me. I see you live in NYC (me too) None of the little fruit vendors ever claim to be organic (well, except 1 that I know of) or claim that it was grown by them.
Sorry for the disappointment.
I hear you! i never buy from those fruit vendors. But when i travel to warm places, i always just assumed i'm buying fruit that has been grown with extra tlc by the people who are trying to make a small living. I feel like you can't eat anything totally organic anymore unless you grow it yourself.
Shame
I guess not totally surprising, but still sad :-/
