Trouble TTC

Update on Lap and My Narrow Cervix

Yesterday was my lap, and it went well. It seems like my endometriosis is mild. My RE did not say what stage, but I won't have to do another surgery. And he only mentioned to my family that it was in my uterus. Also, I had one polyp removed. He also said that my cervix was "tiny." So, he widened it.

Does anybody have any experience with a narrow cervix? I think it's called cervix stenosis?

Edited to change from cyst to polyp. I thought they were the same thing; but apparently, they're a little different. He didn't seem to think it was cancer or anything though.

Re: Update on Lap and My Narrow Cervix

  • I'm glad that your surgery went well! I don't really know anything about a narrow cervix but I have been told that my cervix is small and so is my uterus.

Did they say how long it will take you to heal?

  • Thanks, Beth. My RE just said to listen to my body for these next few weeks and not to push myself too hard. I am also supposed to avoid anything in the vagina until after my post-op appointment in 3 weeks.

  • Warning **SAIF**

I was a regular on this board and thought I'd respond.  I too have cervical stenosis. Unfortunately mine didnt get diagnosed until much later by my OB, but he is fairly sure it was an IF factor for us.  I had a hell of a time with HSG's, IUI's, and other procedures related to my cervix. Miraculously my third IUI worked but I had to have a CS due to my cervical issues.

  • Thanks for responding, HotChocolate. Did your OB do anything to correct the issue? I am wondering how much the "widening" of mine will help.

  • Hi!  I'm new on here!  I just had a saline infused sonohystogram yesterday and my Dr. also mentioned I had cervical stenosis.  She had to use a "clamp" to open it to get the cath in.  I thought I was going to die from pain but anyway they did the saline up into my tubes and my right tube was blocked.  So she started asking me questions like do I have normal periods? Pain with intercourse?  Bad menstrual cramps?...questions of that nature.  I have never had any irregular periods, spotting, STD's, bad cramps..etc...  My question is what were your symptoms, if you had any, of the cervical stenosis and endometriosis?  My Dr. said I could have mild endo.  I'm baffled because I have never had any gyno problems in my life.  I'm really frustrated with all of this.  So happy I found this website though.  I honestly felt alone in my struggle to conceive.
