Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Does anyone's LO do this?

I know my LO  is a water baby. She has been in the ocean and lake from the time she was tiny. She also loves bath time

Last c weekend at the lake she would dunk her face underwater, come up and laugh. It was just a few seconds at a time. Tonight she did it in her bath. She would lean over, dunk her face underwater, then come up and laugh. I have never seen a baby do this, but I am a FTM.

Normal baby behavior or is she part mermaid?

  • Haha! How cute! I saw part mermaid. Both my kids hate water in their faces.

  • Sounds like you have a fish on your hands! That is awesome! dD loves her bath time and loved her swimming 'lessons' back in June, but we never put her fully underwater. Sheis more accepting of water on her face when I rinse off her shampoo, but definitely is not dunking herself on purpose!

  • Yes, he does this in the bath when he is drinking the water. Yucky.  Doesn't sound like that is what your LO is doing though.

  • I'm voting part mermaid. I've never known of a baby to do this. My LO tries to get down to drink her water, but she doesn't want her face in it.

  • my LO loves to go swimming. I take her 3x a week, twice after work and once on the weekends. she loves it and has no problem getting 100% submerged in the water and kicking her way to the top. I was swimming around 18 months so she's likely to follow suit. We just finished a session of parent & tot swim lessons, I think i wasted my money. It was fun, but after the first lesson it was obvious that all the other kids hadn't been in water before and my LO could already do everything they were trying to get the children to attempt to do.
  • My LO does this during bath time, but more when she is mad and wants to get out of the tub. She'll start getting mad and dunk her face. It scares me half to death. But she does love the pool.
