Nerve damage to outer thigh

Has anyone experienced nerve damage to their outer thigh (lateral cutaneous) after their c-section? My right outer thigh no longer has feeling on the top layer and the inner layer has a burning/tingling type sensation. Sometimes it feels worse than other times. I had my c-section six weeks ago and it hasn't gotten any better. My doctor said it most likely happened during the c-section surgery and probably wasn't from labor or the epidural. He thinks it may take up to a year to go away. Has anyone else gone through this? Does it eventually go away on its own?

Re: Nerve damage to outer thigh

  • I didn't have nerve damage from my c/s but I had a different surgery 3 weeks ago and I'm having nerve damage from that.  The area is very sensitive and is numb/tingly all of the time.  I was told from my doctor that nerves take a long time to heal and it can take several months up to a year for them to completely heal and the tingling sensations to go away.  I was also told it usually takes less time for younger people heal.

  • With my first, my right toe lost sensation. With my second, my left heel. My toe took like a year to heal. My heel is already better now.

  • I has this. Not caused from my C-section. I got this during my first pregnancy my doctor said it was the weight of the uterus pressing on the nerves. It went away after I gave birth. Now I am 27 weeks pregnant with twins and it has been back since the beginning. It is awful.  it is on the outer aspect of my left thigh. completely numb on the outer layer . It is maralgia parasthetica. Not fun at all!
