...and having small children is that I think about all the things I want to do with them when I get home (go to a music festival, go eat in a park, go play in a new pool, etc.) and then when I do get home, they are usually cranky and tired and so the evening becomes mostly about dinner, baths, bed, and getting ready for the next day. I'm pretty much used to it, but sometimes I get, dare I say, bored by the whole routine!
It's usually in the summer I get antsy like this, too. Where I live, summer is so, so fun. There are music festivals nearly every night, concerts in parks, fun restaurants to try. I think the age of my kids (9 months, and 3) stops us from doing a lot of things because they go to bed so early (the 9 month old was in bed at 6:00 last night). We try to do a lot of things with the kids, I just think everyone's energy is all used up by the time I get home:( Dh is a teacher, so he gets their good hours during the days in the summer. I am jealous!
Anyone else feel this way?! I think I have the late-summer blahs. Everyone seems to be on vacation, or doing their last minute fun things, and with really young kids, it just seems like we are doing the same old thing. I think I'm just cranky today:)
Re: The one thing I hate the most about working...
During the week it is hard. I get home at 5 with DD. We go for a walk or run in neighborhood for about 45 minutes. Then we eat dinner, do bath time and play/read books until bedtime. I'm not very creative with her during the week, and we just stay on schedule.
On weekends we pack her up and go to parks, on hikes, to festivals or street fairs in our town, to the farmer's market, shopping, out to dinner, etc. Our weekends are just packed with fun things.
