1st Trimester

If you are using B6 please come in...

So I called my doctor yesterday to ask what I can do about m/s (or all day sickness in my case!) I feel like I constantly have the worst hangover. My head is pounding, I throw up basically every morning but feel like I could at any moment the rest of the day. She recommended that I try B6 (50 mg 3x a day). I started it last night and this morning but no relief yet. Does it take a little while to kick in or does it just not work for some people?

I am trying to eat small meals, stay hydrated, suck on candies and pretty much everything else in the book. Any help is greatly appreciated. I am going on vacation tomorrow and I really want to be able to enjoy it.

  • I just started taking B6 last night, so I have no insight for you yet. I hope that it starts working for you soon:)

  • I tried it in my first trimester and it did not work for me. I stuck with it for almost 2 weeks before I gave up. I was like you - I wasn't throwing up constantly maybe once a day but I just felt terrible nausea every moment unless I was asleep! Sea Bands helped me as did anything lemon flavored and ginger tea. If you are traveling I would recommend Dramamine.

  • It has helped me tremendously. It took about 3-4 days before I noticed a major change. Just make sure u take it regularly. My dr said every 8 hrs.

  • I read somewhere that there was a connection with B6 and keeping the pregnancy so that is why I take it.  There are a lot of women here who take it in combination with other stuff for M/S.  I have a prescription for that and I would recommend that.

  • I actually can't seem to keep it down.  I think it might be the smell of the vitamin, but if I manage to actually get it down, it's not long before it comes up.  I'm having luck with Zofran, though.  Just wanted to mention that my OB does b6 injections to sorta kick start the b6 regiment.  They said people have had very good luck with them.

  • Vitamins take a couple days to really start kicking in, give it 3-4 days before expecting much change, maybe even a week depending on how depleted your system may be.

BTW, we have the same due date ;-)
