Breastfeeding

Nearly No supply

LC:

Hello,

I am expecting my second child in January and would love to breastfeed.  I feel like i've missed out on something so important to me because my first child, my son, wouldn't breastfeed. I know I didn't have much of a supply at all, because when my sonh was 1 month i was only making maybe only 1 ounce of milk, from both breasts. The lactation consultant at the hospital said that he was eating because he had a "swallowing" sound, but i don't believe it because i wasn't making milk.  Can you tell me how I can make sure to produce milk with this second baby?  also, how do I know if I am making enough milk? My son cried and cried when i tried to breastfeed, and so would I because it was too painful.  Thank you.

  • La Leche Leauge International has LOTS of information about breastfeeding! Try checking out llli.org for support and help. I've always heard that the more the baby suckles the more the breast will produce but others could be more helpful, I'm sure. GL!
