Trampoline recommendations

We are thinking about getting DD a trampoline for her 3rd birthday next month. I want one that will be safe for her and DS to jump on, and I want a few kids at a time to be able to jump, but I don't want to buy a huge one. Any recommendations?

Re: Trampoline recommendations

  • I've always been told that when it comes to trampoline safety, only one person should bounce at a time. I've never heard of a trampoline that safely allows multiple children at the same time.

Trampolines are not safe bottom line.  If you want something that the kids can bounce in, look into the small bounce house things but I still would only let 1 kid in those at a time as they are not that big.

  • Hmmm...maybe bounce house would be the way to go! I had never heard that about home insurance not allowing them but I guess it makes sense. I thought they were a lot safer now that they sell them with the netting on the sides, but who knows?

This. My rec was going to be "don't get one". They are all dangerous and I do not know anyone with them long term that have not had someone get hurt. My SD sprained her wrist and got major bruises in high school on one, my neice sprained her fingers on her own at 12 and my friend's daughter got her on one.

A bounce house is way better but needs supervision too. Oh, and many home owners insurance require riders just like with a pool, if you do not get it ananton have an unrelated insurance claim they come to examine the damage and see it they can drop you without paying to fix your house.

  • We've had this one since christmas and my kids love it! I wouldn't put more than 2 kids in there at a time though. I really liked that my youngest was able to get in and out of himself when he was just over 1. My only complaint is it's very light so we've had to anchor it down for when super high winds come.

  • we have a big "12 round trampoline that our two kids just LOVE, espically my daughter who takes gymnastics. We bought one on craigslist 2yrs ago for $65, the lady had teenagers who obviously dont use it anymore and just wanted it gone. So DH went over and had to take it down and move it but it came w/ the zip up enclosure, and i would never ever have one w/o an enclosure. And i gotta say, after having it for almost 2yrs now, i expected them to "loose interest" but its still the greatest thing since sliced bread to them!!! And so far we havent had any accidents, but the two of them are only allowed on it together (bc they are still little enough that they dont jump very high or hard enough to injury themselves or each other), but i have a really big family with lots of school aged neices/nephews and they are only allowed on one at a time. Oh and i told my homeowners insurance and it went up $50 a yr...so well worth it to us. And i agree with the PP, we also anchored ours down after it blew into the field by our house last year during a wind storm lol
