babies around one month

How long does your sleep at night?  Mine is still up every 2 hours with no stretch of any longer period.  Is there any way to try to get him to have at least one "longer" stretch or maybe eat every 3 hours??  I'm so exhausted- he's also one of those extremely loud sleepers. I'm going to be a zombie back at work today blahhhh.

  • Yea I do BF; I was pulling him into bed but he's so loud (loud eater, too) that it was keeping dh up so we started going out into the living room.  Oh well, hopefully LO will catch on soon that sleeping is fun :)

  • Mine still only sleeps 2 hour stretches. Rarely 3. Last night she was up every hour with gas cramps and fighting the swaddle.

  • Last night our first stretch was 5 1/2 hrs, then the second stretch was 3 1/2 hrs. She typically will sleep at least 3 1/2 hrs at a time at night, but will go longer at times. She is fed pumped BM. I feel lucky that she's typically a good sleeper.

Do you swaddle? We used to think she liked her arms free because she moved them a ton but it was actually waking her up.

THIS. we used to swaddle her with her arms up because she loves them so much, but i swaddled her with her arms down last night and she slept for 5 HOURS STRAIGHT. it was amazing. she normally wakes up every 2 hours too. SOMETIMES 3 hours, but mostly 2. couldn't believe we got 5 hours! 11:30 - 4:15am. then i fed her, etc., and she slept for another 2.5 hours. i think maybe she could have gone longer, but some random number called my cell phone at like 7am and made her start stirring! ugh. but i'm definitely swaddling with her hands down again tonight!

  • DD can go about 4 hours from start of one feeding to start of the next at night.  So she sleeps about 3 hours straight as feeding her and changing her and getting her back down takes about an hour each time.

On some nights we get a 4-5 hour stretch then every 3 hours, but other nights like last night he is up all night. And it's completely unpredictable what we are going o get on any given night.

This.  Last night we were fussy till about midnight -- then slept until 5 and nursed in bed, back to sleep until 7 and nursed in bed again...then we both slept until 9:30.  I don't know what I would do if I had to go back to work!  The night before she was up every 2 hours...some nights it is every hour.  I just remind myself that this phase doesn't last forever!

  • Yup, my LO is still up every 2 hours to feed. She is 1 month tomorrow. The longest stretch so far as been 2 1/2 hours. That was great! Except I couldn't sleep because I was so in shock, haha.

I'm going to try swaddling again- we haven't since she was two weeks old because she kept getting out of it and seemed to like having her arms free. Maybe now it'll work! *fingers crossed*

  • I could have written this same post. We are transitioning her to her crib because she is so noisy. I hope she starts sleeping longer too.

  • Rob sleeps 3-4 hours at a time. He started sleeping longer when I put him in a sleeper plus swaddling every night. Also, we have a pretty loud noise machine, plus I use ear plugs (mainly for DH's snoring). I can still easily hear LO cry. It just takes the edge off the noise.

  • DD usually has her last feed somewhere between 9 and 10:30. Then she is awake for a little while before she falls asleep. She'll usually go 6-7 hours before her next feeding. Then she'll go another 3 after that. I'm so thankful that she's a good sleeper because my oldest is now waking up several times a night with night terrors.

  • DS goes anywhere from 2-3 hours bw night feedings. It's frustrating bc the 1st 2 weeks he would have at least 1 4-5 hr stretch. Plus I have to wake him to feed during the day. I've tried several things to get him to go longer stetches at night but nothing seems to work yet.

    This!

  • At 3w2ds, she wakes every 2.5-3hrs to eat at night.   Which wouldn't be too bad, but she makes fussy noises at about 1.5 hrs, so I wake up and go to her only to find her sound asleep when I reach the PnP.

    So yeah, I'm tired.

Very very thankful that I'm taking a full 12weeks off work.  At this point I can't imagine I'll be functional 3 weeks from now.

  • At 4 weeks old DS would sleep for about 2 - 2.5 hours.  Last night he slept a solid 3 hours for the first time, but I think that was because he didn't nap and cried most of the day yesterday.  I'm tired though, because he generally won't fall asleep by himself - I'd have to sooth him to sleep for 15 minutes - half hour, and then he fusses for the last half hour before he fully wakes up, so I get about 1.5 - 2 hours of sleep at a time; and I find it hard to fall asleep sometimes.  We swaddle.
  • At 4 weeks old Kyle was getting up every 3 hours on the dot (every 2 hrs on a couple bad days). It recently got a little better starting at around 5-6 weeks where he's getting up every 3 hours and sometimes every 4 for the first half of the night. Second half is always a shorter cycle.
