Am I supposed to wash everything; meaning non-clothing related items?
If so, I know how to remove the swing and bouncy seat covers since I put them together, but will I be able to figure out how to remove the car seat cover? Do the colors bleed and I have to wash them all separately or can I pile them all into one load of laundry?
Ugh, my washing machine is getting a workout!
Re: Asked before, but my memory sucks - washing LO's stuff
I guess it's optional to wash things, but I did because of chemicals or whatever from manufacturing.
My car seat manual had directions about how to take off the cover and how to wash it (hand washing- ugh.).
I didn't have bleeding issues, but I did wash the light covers with lights and darks with darks.
Good question.
I washed all sheets, crib protector sheets, burp cloths, receiving blankets and changing pad covers. I hadn't thought much about the baby gear.

I didn't even think to wash the carseat or swing, etc with DS1. Mom fail??
He's been ok...he's on his way to 3 now.
I did wash all clothing, sheets, blankets, changing pad covers, etc.
I never washed the brand new items (swing, car seat, etc.) for DS. I did for DD and will for this baby, only because they've been used. Great if you want to, but I don't think it's super necessary.
(read it. you know you want to.)

I washed the swing and bouncer pads since they were easy to remove, no bleeding or any issues. I still need to wash the Moby & Ergo.
I considered the car seat but I'm too worried I'll shrink it or not be able to get it back on right and since it's been airing out of the box for 4-5 months now, I think it'll probably be okay.
I took everything apart I could and washed everything together in one load. Had no problems with bleeding. I sprayed it all with a one to four bleach and water mixture before putting it in the wash, and then when that was done I ran it like two more times to rinse. Then I put everything back together and used Clorox wipes on everything. WIth the pack and play I used our hand-held carpet cleaner with a little bleach in it to clean it because I couldn't take it apart. And then I Clorox-wiped it too...
This pregnancy thing has made me suddenly OCD about cleaning. It's pretty ridiculous. Lol!
ETA: Everything I have for the baby is used, so I felt it necessary to wash it all. I think the only things I have that are new are the bottles, pacifiers, medicine droppers, thermometer, hair brush, etc.
Also, I love color catchers.
I have washed everything so far, but everything I have so far is used. The carseat will be new so I doubt I will wash it. It didn't take long or much effort so I have just been washing as I acquire things. The playpen and co sleeper I washed down with laundry detergent and hot water, rinsed outside and left them in the sun for 5-6 hours to kill any germs that we're left. I have been a wee bit OCD about making sure everything is ready lol.
