We've had our first full week of school lunches. Phew! I have to really be sure to pack her bento boxes well because the lunches go from being upright in my DD's backpack to sideways in her cubby. But she says everything is still cute at lunchtime, so I guess I'll take her word. I wasn't sure how much food to pack but kindergarten is making DD hungry, and what little food remains is promptly eaten after school.
My favorite! Mini frog sandwiches (those are bear cookie cutters with giant sprinkles), lots of grapes and blueberries, Goldfish and a little container of dried cherries. The lid was clear, too, so the frogs were peering up at her.
Clown - cute up top but the mouth part is a little disturbing to me! The sandwich is veggie cream cheese with thinly sliced cucumbers (yum!), blueberries, a hat with 3 mini M&Ms tucked inside. Down below are baby carrots, grapes, a strawberry nose and container of dip for the carrots.
Cute, no. Organized, yes. Carrots (oops, the lid was off all night and they got really dry!) and teriyaki meatballs with homemade picks made of colorful tape and toothpicks. Cucumber slices, crackers, dried cherries in the container and blueberries at the end. Very, very fast!
Happy! I ordered this box over the summer and haven't used it yet. OMG, I love it! Ham & cheese sandwich with nori details (the sandwich is surrounded by folded up food paper from World Market), broccoli, blueberries and two yogurt-covered pretzels. In the top tier are plums and two pitted cherries.
The effect of this car-themed lunch is sort of lost when you can't see the Cars juice pouch I sent with DD. Lots of strawberries in one mini box. In the other box are four mini homemade sealed sandwiches (peanut butter & honey), broccoli, blueberries and cheese on picks and a little container of dried cherries.
DD had to eat at home this weekend, too, so here's a kind of weird looking dinosaur lunch. Quesadilla with lots of grapes and a hard boiled egg head (that makes him look rather snake-y). A little tree is made of a pita chip, broccoli and cherries. A few dinosaur picks help set the scene (I hope).
And finally, a giraffe lunch. Pita chip/grape trees, cheese giraffes (I broke every single tail trying to get them out of the cookie cutter), and containers of hummus, pitted cherries and carrots. And now I need to start it all over again tomorrow! I'm not used to preparing so much food!
Have a great week everyone! PIP your cute lunches here!
Re: Cute lunch check-in
I started posting my cute lunches over on GBCN - but I always come back to check yours out! Thought I would post some here today as well. This one was a Pinterest pin that was super easy to duplicate. A PB&J sandwhich, two marshmellows, and a Cherrio. The eyes were drawn on with a food marker, and stuck on with a little bit of peanut butter. She thought he was hilarious! A few carrots, and watermelon cut out of a flower cutter.
Another PB&J, that I cut our using the top tier of this box. Used letter cutters to spell "Love. Bottom tier has some goldfish, graham crackers, and a piggy of Nutella. I was really low on groceries that day!
This one was really fast and easy. A PB&J cut using a daisy cutter, strawberry yogurt with daisy sprinkles, and some strawberries with a cute little giraffe pick.
