So we told my sil our daughters name, and it's winter rose. Her daughter is summer rose. She's bent out of shape. Is that weird? Her daughter is 10, and rose is a last name on my side so I've had it picked out forever.

I think it's funny that there will be cousins named Winter Rose and Summer Rose, but I certainly don't see the problem with it or why she would have a reason to get bent out of shape about it.

I would understand her getting bent out of shape if you were going with Summer Rose as well, but I think it is neat that cousins will be Summer and Winter. She will get over it

There is more than a 10 year age difference, it isn't the same name, and Rose is a family name on YOUR side of the family (meaning it had no meaning to her prior to marrying into the family). She can get over herself any time now.

I agree with this one. They are similar in feel. And I could see myself being sort of unimpressed by the idea if I were your SIL. But do what you want, this is your baby.

This. True that they aren't the same name, but they feel copycat-ish. I'm sure that's why she's bent about it.

Like someone else, said, I think it's a bit odd to have cousins whose names are that similar in feel, but ultimately, it's your choice.

My mom is one of seven kids and each of them have a son named Paul or a daughter named Paula (my first name). As a kid I hated it and ultimately prefered my middle name (Grace) which is what I go by.

On that note, you should pick a name that means somthing to you but is also individual to the child. If you feel like you've done this with Winter Rose then no one else's opinions matter.

Kaye is a family name (My DH side)

and there are 4 people that have Kaye in their name.

My LO will be Anna Kaye and her cousin who will only be 2 years older is Nadia Kaye. My SIL was excited and didn't get bent out of shape.

Maybe similar with Summer and Winter - but she shouldn't be getting bent out of shape
