Extreme weight gain!

I just got back from my check up at the docs. In a week and a half, I gained 7lbs. I dont think I ever had that kind of jump before. (Compared with last visit where I gained 3 in two weeks, and the prior visit, where I gained 1 in two weeks). I was literally in shock. There has been absolutely no change in my eating habits at all.

My feet and hands are incredibly and painfully swollen, and the doc said that the rapid increase in weight is all water. Obviously he wouldnt give me a definite answer on when I would deliver, but he did say this could be a sign of impending labor.

Has this happened to anyone here ... and did you deliver shortly after? If not, does it get better?

I swelled a LOT at the end. I put on almost 20 pounds in the last 3ish weeks of my pregnancy and it was ALL water. I don't know if I would say it was a sign of impending labor since I swelled a LOT and still ended up with an induction, but I don't guess it's out of the question. I did notice that the swelling started about the time that I started dilating.

Yeah, at the end there was a week I gained 10lbs, and my OB said most of it was water weight. There got to be a point I couldn't wear any of my shoes -- I was in sz XL flip flops and un-laced sneakers

It only lasted about 3wks before I delivered though.

That's what happen to me about 32/33 weeks. I swelled up, my BP went up and I was put on bed rest.

Was your BP normal? Rapid weight gain and water retention could be a sign of pre-e. Hopefully its just normal end of pg swelling though.

I have been consistently gaining 5 lbs every 2 weeks and as of a week and a half ago have gained 45lbs. I am getting weighed again on Wednesday and am guessing I will be up 50lbs by then, but have noticed foot and hand swelling too... I think it's normal with multiples towards the end to swell up which causes a lot of the weight gain. I had my wedding ring cut off my purple finger last week and my shoes are all tight so I am in flip flops (when I actually leave the couch). Hang in there.

I gained 7 in the last week. That coupled with other tests led to a mild pre-e diagnosis. I got induced that night - it was at 37 weeks though.

I gained 53 total and had lost 40 by a week postpartum.

i gained 10lbs the week before i delivered at 30 weeks. I didn't have stretch marks till that week and I have them on my knees and arms. Thanks a whole lot edema, you witch. Take care of yourself and definetly if something just doesn't feel right listen to your body. I felt like I was getting the flu on a thursday and delivered on a tuesday. Didn't even know I was in labor until I got to the hospital, I just didn't feel right, and I was 5cm dilated with a bulging bag when I got there. Fortunately you are 32 weeks and that's really good, not ideal, but really good/ GL

My feet have tripled in size over the last week. My dr told me the same thing that it's a sign that the end is near. I almost said no duh my c/s is in 2 weeks. I was really cranky this afternoon. I'm not digging the feeling like my feet have the skin ripping because they are so swollen.
