Intro - surprise triplets

Hello!  Most of my info is in my siggy.  DH and I transferred two 5day blasts in July and found out at today's u/s that we are expecting triplets.  I can't even say the word, or type it, without smiling.  When the u/s tech asked how many embryos we transferred and we said 2, she said "well, you hit the jackpot".  It didn't really hit me until she showed us both sacs.  All we could do was laugh, then cry, then laugh again.

My OB's office called me a couple hours after the appt to say that they won't treat me now that I'm carrying triplets/high risk and they'll be referring me to a Perinatologist.  I was happy to hear that, although hearing the words "high risk" out loud was scary.

I did a lot of lurking on this board, knowing with IVF that twins was possible.  Now it's time to do my research on triplets.  Glad there's several ladies on this board with experience and I can't wait to get to know you better.

  • Congratulations on your triplets!  I can't imagine having 3 but I know you must be thrilled after your long IF journey.  Glad you found this board.  I think you will find it helpful.  I lurked LONG before I actually posted, but I'm trying to get in the swing of being more active, especially now that I have more and more questions.  Hopefully I can learn a lot and be a help to someone else (maybe you!!) down the line.

  • Hi there!

What a fun surprise! It sounds like you are handling things very well for being so early! I was a basket case for about a month and a half after finding out we were expecting triplets (just ask some of the ladies on this board) Welcome, and FYI--I felt a million times better after meeting with my MFM. I hope the same is true for you!

  • I'm a bit late to the thread, it appears... lol

I just had to stop in and say how awesome it is every time women come in here with so much excitement about their multiples. I am so on edge with anxiety all the time that everyone's stories of triumph and pure joy for their pregnancies really helps take my mind off of the stress.

    Way to go!

  • Wow congrats!  I can't imagine the shock you must feel.  Glad to hear they are referring you early.  However where I live, MFMs don't deliver to I still saw my OB.
  • Congrats to you! I transferred 2 and my RE thought she saw 3 so I know the feeling of shock that comes with that, haha. She had me going for 5 long minutes until she said...wait a minute, I misspoke. That is fantastic news! Wishing you a long and happy pregnancy :)
