Me: 37 DH: 37 TTC since Jan 2012. RE consult and initial testing done in Aug 2012: SA fine, AMH 1.1 & HSG clear - on way to IUI but got BFP on 9/10/2012. m/c 10/3/2012 at 6w5d. BFP next cycle which was a c/p. IUI #1: Clomid 100mg 12/6= BFN. IUI#2 (unmedicated) Jan 2013 = BFN. Hysteroscopy 1/25/13. IUI#3 Clomid 100mg 2/23 = BFN IUI# 4: BFN. IVF #1 April 2013, BFP! EDD 1/12/14 with Boy!

Things got very wonky when I pasted from word - I'm going to try again:
We had our RE consultation today and it went really well. I love my doctor and his staff ? he was extremely nice and informative in a very user friendly way.
He had results of my AMH test and my results are 1.1, which he felt very good about. DH semen analysis came back great ? he was average or above average on all counts.
I am CD1 and our game plan is to run additional tests and do the HSG ? I have an appointment next Wednesday for the HSG, which is CD10. At that point he?ll give me the scoop on my blood work.
After talking with us for about 45 minutes, he did an exam. He did an ultrasound and said my uterus looked great for where I am in my cycle, and that my left and right ovaries each had 7 follicles, which he was pleased with. He also ordered a lot of blood work for STDs as well as prolactin, thyroid and several others.
In terms of game plan, he said we could do the HSG this month and then start with Clomid/IUI next month or wait. I?m not sure what we?ll do. Based on timing, I will ovulate right after my HSG ? so if it doesn?t work I?m inclined to go directly to Clomid/IUI. I think MH may want to wait. We shall see.
Oh ? and the kicker. He told me I should cut out alcohol and scale back on caffeine to 2 cups max. He said that if we were out with friends, having a drink or 2 is fine, but that (and I quote) ?you shouldn?t have a glass of wine a day?. Er, I have a glass of wine a day. Like every day. When he said that MH gave me the side eye and smirked. So I?m drinking my last ?glass of wine a day? right now??

I am so glad your appointment went well. Good luck with your plan. I hear about the wine thing, I usually drink a glass of wine a day, I definitely try not to drink it everyday and just enjoy couple glasses on the weekend. But summer is so hard!
On my end, I started 50mg clomid yesterday for 5 days and will go back next week to check how I respond to the medicine.
I know on another board Lenox you mentioned we are about in the same situation.. 37 and trying since Jan.
I was wondering, and I am new to this so all these different tests are unknown and kind if confusing to me, but I have a first time consultation with a fertility doc about a month from now and I am not doing any tests before hand and I don't know if I am doing an exam or any tests that day.. The woman who takes the appts is kind of annoying and does not provide good info.. She said it was just a consultation. My husband is getting his sperm checked before hand but his urologist appt to get the results isn't for a week after my appt! I did a lot of research and this clinic has the best docs in the area so I do want to go here but I want to be timeefficient about things. Does this sound normal or no?

Let me share my personal experience but I would actually suggest starting a new thread/message as the rest of the ladies on this board know way more than I do and were extremely helpful to me when I was getting ready for my appointment.
My doctor is also pretty great and took a while to get a consultation. From reading this board I knew that the main tests to evaluate fertility issues are CD3 (my doctor does AMH instead - and he requires this to be done to even BOOK a consultation) and semen analysis. We did them before the consult so that he could actually address the results in the meeting. To me, there was no sense in waiting 6 weeks to get an appointment only for him to tell us to go get some tests and then regroup with him later. So in our meeting he was able to say that MH was fine, I looked fine, and then establish a clear point of action. His office was extremely helpful - which sounds different for you. They told me what bloodwork to do and MH did his SA there as well.
In addition to asking the board - if you haven't already, check out the Trouble TTC board. At the top of the page there is a link called "New to Trouble TTC? Read Here" - that is unbelievably comprehensive in the tests and key steps. That was great for me...
I am not sure if this is possible, but you may want to consider rescheduling your appointment a week later (or your husbands SA a week earlier) so that he has your husbands SA in the consultation. Oh, and your husband should go with you to your consultation - this is your consultation as a couple
Thanks Lenox, this is very helpful. I will go check out that other board too. What you are saying makes total sense and the clinic's website says the experience is as a couple on the same day yadda yadda but it's not really like that at all. They told me my doc doesn't review the semen with us, the Urologist does. :SIGH:
Maybe I'll call the clinic again to get some clarification and insist on doing some tests first.
Don't worry - i'm sure all places are different and you'll be in great hands! I can totally relate to the type A "let's get the show on the road" type of feeling - but this is a marathon and not a sprint
the sooner I took a deep breath and realized I couldn't control everything - the better I felt. Stay strong!
