I called.my ob practice.to get the name of the mfm they plan to refer me to
@20 w and i did get the name, but i also decided to push for an earlier referral. I was outright DENIED. She checked with my ob who said it is not necessary to be seen prior to 20w. Needless to say, this last friday was my last time with HIM and that practice. I called the mfm directly and they will not see me without a referral, so i called my pcp. I may or may not be getting a referral.since she does not have my recent ob records...(and also it is a really small down town and all the docs know all the other ones, so she may not be willing to "not back him up"(as my dh pointed out)...BUT, the secretary at the pcp is a twin mom...so she gave me the name and number of the practice (in a different town) that she used and was very happy with. So...i am really frustrated that it is this freaking difficult to advocate for myself +babies, but glad that it seems like we are getting on the right path. I am so glad i found all you ladies and your info, because otherwise i would be totally.clueless about the fact that i.am getting substandard care.
Re: new doc on horizon
Good for you!
I hope the new clinic is more helpful for you. Remember, too, that the old doctor's office is required by law to release your medical records to your new doctor if you ask them to in writing, for the continuation of care. It can save a little money on labwork if you've already had a set of tests done and don't want to do them again.
