Same here! I thought it would be a few more months before tantrums set in, but we are there already.
It's usually when she is trying to get into something that she shouldn't (and she knows it!), and take the object away from her. I try my best to redirect, calmly explaining that there are other options for things to play with, and try to engage her. And when I'm really frustrated, I make sure that she is in a babyproofed area and ignore and/or walk away. We have had some success when I redirect her to play with DH, she seems to take better to that. I guess that's because she's mad at mean old mommy for taking things away from her
ETA: I don't know if these are the "right" methods or not...this is all new to me, so I'm winging it right now!
Yup...Anytime our LO is doing something he is not suppose to and we let him know then he will do his bit and all you can do is let them be. Now when he is older I am sure there will be a time out or something, I think it is funny too how if they wake up on the wrong side of the bed they can have a attitude.
Oh No! Now I'm concerned as to why my DS has been having them since 9 months! They are getting worse too. It's when he wants to do something (or wants a certain object) and he can't do it / have it. Around 9 months he was kicking and screaming on the floor. Now though... it's high pitched sreaming, slapping, stomping, and if you pick him up, kicking. He will actually pump his arms in frustration too... and I've caught him slapping the dogs when he is angry. I have NO IDEA where he is getting this from. I've often heard that kids that slap are slapped at home...but I HAVE NEVER SLAPPED HIM!!!!
I usually try to re-direct...but when that doesn't work I ignore. I want to get that book "The Happy Toddler" and get some better insight.
I remember when i was overwhelmed with a newborn and my friend said "I could do the newborn thing 100 times over, it's the toddler stage that's horrible! Yikes!

Here too. I usually try to either ignore or redirect.
I take it away and he cries. I will just walk away and he stops crying. I will also give him a toy he can play with.
