How early is "too" early in baby shower etiquette?

Sept 29 amd I'll be 31 weeks by then. I think earlier than third tri might be a little early, but that's just me.

My showers will be held on October 7th and 14th (different parts of the state). I'll be 30 and 31 weeks respectively. I'm high risk and have a good chance of delivering early, so we planned a bit ahead just in case.

I just found out I'm having s surprise shower in a month, I'll only be 26 weeks. I think this was the best time to fit everyone's schedule since the last 3 months of the year are busy for my family.

My friend asked me yesterday to chose between October 13th and 20th...I will be either 29-30 weeks. The friends hosting are, like me, school teachers and the last 2 months are insane with work so, earlier works better.

Im also having a kind of shower on October 7th...it's my 30th birthday and I'll be going to my college town for a football game. A bunch of my college friends who wouldn't be able to fly in for another shower are already flying in for that game, and want to have a party for me (for my birthday) and the baby.

I think I read some where that showers are between best 27-33 weeks...I don't know where I read that.

We're thinking the weekend of 10/20 or 10/27. I'm thinking that way, we'll have enough time for my mom to plan and then also we'll be avoiding all the wedding excitement from DH's cousin's wedding the weekend before.

I would probably agree some think that before the 3rd trimester is a little early, but it may be more comfortable for MTB.

My work shower will be October 25th. My family and friends shower will be November 10th.

My mom is throwing me one on October 6th - MIL is (I think) throwing me one at the end of October/Early November. She hasn't gotten with me for dates and I don't really want to bug her about it or make her feel like she 'has' to throw me one. And for my bridal shower she didn't have date ideas until about a month before hand, so, lots of time, right?

I don't know that there is etiquette on having them too early, but mine is mid-Sept. I gave the girls throwing me a shower a time frame of Sept and Oct and they picked Sept b/c it worked better for their schedules. I know some people on here have already had showers too.

I don't think anyone can tell you a certain time is "too" early at this point. Sometimes different circumstances play in to things and people have schedules. SO, don't worry about a time frame. Find what works best for you and your hostess/es and go from there!!

Ours is going to be October 6th. Almost 2 months before my due date, but it's almost 9 hours away from where we live currently, so we figured it would be best to have it set for then rather than later.

I am having one where I grew up on September 29th and one for around where I live on October 21st. My MIL wants to have one where DH grew up for their family and friends, but not sure when that will be.

I read that somewhere around your 7th month is a good time to have it. Besides if you wait too long you are getting close to the holiday and people tend to get busy then.

Mine is being planned for October 20th, so I'll be just almost 31 weeks. With the holidays after that, people's vacations, and not being sure of weather or how I'll feel, it worked out to be the best date for everyone..

I also think I read somewhere between 28 and 32 weeks being prime, but don't hold me to that because I can't remember where I read it!

We are having the shower on October 20th. We originally were looking at end of September because the weather will be better but the October date was the only one available at any of the places we liked.

I know for me personally I did not want to have a baby shower in November or early December because of the holidays. Also our shower is going to be back around the area we grew up so we have to travel and I did not want to do that during those two months either.

i think mine is the earliest of everyone here... mine is Aug 25th ill be 25 weeks... but i will be moving almost 900 miles from home about 3 weeks after so that was the only time we could do it

We're debating between Oct 13 and 20th, so either 29 or 30 weeks. I think that it's pretty optimal because we'll still have plenty of time afterwards to get everything that we didn't get at the shower, and to incorporate all of the gifts in her nursery.

Well, I shouldn't be having a shower because I'm a STM, but my ILs are throwing a surprise shower when I'm 26 weeks, and that's because that's the only time we'll be visiting them until after the baby is born (they live several hours away.)

My shower will be Oct 20th - I'll be 33 weeks.

The only reason that I was offered a 2nd shower was because we had a house fire just after DD#1 turned 1 year and we lost all of our baby stuff!

I'll be at 27 weeks which may seem early but 1) none of my friends/family live near me as we just moved in June so this was the best time for everyone 2) carrying multiples can up my chances of bedrest/PTL so I'd like to not miss my shower 3) at this point I don't honestly care about what anyone else thinks because the people who know and care about me, know and care about the fact that there are too many circumstances warranting an early shower Smile

Mine is Oct 6th, I will be about 27 weeks. Might be a a bit early, but I live 3.5 hours from where it's held and I know several other will be traveling also from around the state/out of state possibly. I would have to travel through what we call the "Snow Belt" and my sister through the mountains, so... this works for everyone better, and we all feel safer. Don't want to get caught in an early winter storm.

I read somewhere that anywhere between 28 & 36 weeks is appropriate to have a shower but it all depends on your situation and what works for you and those throwing the shower. Mine will be October 13th and I'll be 30 weeks. I'd like to have enough time to get everything washed and put away plus have enough time to spread out any additional purchases we'll need to make before LO gets here so we still have some cash left for a few Christmas presents.

Mine will be Sept 30th. I'll be around 30/31 weeks. That worked with my hostesses schedule and mine, plus it'll still give me time to see what I still need to purchase before baby gets here.
