What is your LO's favorite book?

What is your LO's favorite book(s)?  Do you have to read them over and over and over again?  We read the same book back to back at least five times before we are finished with it. :)  Nate's favorites are:

Red Hat, Green Hat by Sandra Boyton.  He still doesn't seem to get the color concept on each page, but thinks it's hilarious that the turkey wears his shoes on his head and we have changed the word "oops" to "Uh-oh" because Nate likes to say it when we get to that part and he knew that word when we started reading it.  We read this one at least 12 times a day!

Chicka, Chicka, Boom, BoomBrown Bear, Brown BearThe Going to Bed Book

I have all the words memorized to these and no longer have to look at the pages. Big Smile

  • Carter's favorites right now are Guess How Much I Love You and Good Night Love You. He gets mad when I get to the last page and tries to turn the pages back to the beginning.

  • Asher will not sit still for a story. I read one at nap time and one before bed, and he could care less. DD loves when I read to her, though. DS is just content to walk around with "his" mini Massage For Dummies book. I figure if I read them often enough, he'll someday become interested, right?

DD really loves The Belly Button Book, Bedtime Bunny, Good Night Moon and From Head To Toe. We have like 50 kids books and I try to alternate them out, but she almost always asks for one of those 4.

  • He is not really into books, he just flips super fast through them. But he does like Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.

This cracked me up!  Nate has just recently decided to sit still for entire stories.  It's a new thing.  We used to just flip through them and call it good.  For all his running and jumping and climbing, when he decides he wants to read, he actually listens.  It has to be on his terms though.  If I were to go get a book and say, "Let's read!", then he would just run away.  It has to be his idea first I guess and it's usually about the same time of day.  Unfortunately, it's in the middle of the day, so daycare might get the reading treat starting next week...

DD had an obsession with the little book, too. The poor thing looks so rough, but there's something magical about it, I guess. haha

It's good to know that this is a new thing. Maybe Asher will come around. I feel like DD has always loved books, but maybe I just don't remember the phase.

  • Currently his favorites are The Cat in the Hat & Green Eggs & Ham - or as he calls them "Hat" & "Ham". He has also been asking for "Baby", which is a book called Boss Baby, from the Hallmark Gold Crown Store.

Before that, our go-to bedtime books have been: Goodnight Gorilla, A Cuddle for Little Duck & Before I Go to Sleep.

LOL, Nate doesn't quite know what to think about those funky people!  He likes the last page and just asks "that?" over and over, wanting me to name everything over and over.

  • My guys love Goodnight Moon, any Eric Carle books (esp The Very Quiet Cricket and the Very Busy Spider), The Littlest Dinosaur's Big Adventure, On the night you were born, and Henry the dog with no tail.

I read them 3 books every night- one is always Goodnight Moon- it is the last book, so it signals that it is time to go to bed.

  • Ava's favorites are Brown Bear, Brown Bear, Seashore Baby (a lift the flap book), Oh My Oh My Oh Dinosaurs, and Opposites (another lift flap book).

  • She loves all of them, unless we try to make one a bedtime cue book, then she refuses. So she now won't let us read The Going to Bed Book or Good Night Gorilla because she knows we read them last.

Snuggle Puppy is adorable (look for the song on YouTube) and she really likes a book called Lets Count Goats, at the moment.

    She's obsessed with books.

  • A loves his books. We keep a steady rotation of what we read before bed/nap/ just during the day. We used to have set bedtime cue books but now use a couple of songs and his seahorse to cue rather than a book. His faves are where's that fish?, hands hands fingers toes, mr brown can moo, hungry caterpillar, any dr Seuss (as log as it is a board book).

I need to find this chicka chicka boom book.... But alas hasn't shown up at the 2nd shops I frequent.

OMG this exact thing happened with us with Goodnight Gorilla, too! hahah

we used to be "one & done" when it came to bedtime books. We'd read that, then he'd run to the bottom of the steps saying night-night. Easy peasy.

Then he started saying no to it & would close it right away. lol, Now we have to read like 4 books before he agrees to night night time.

  • At Christmas it was Brown Bear. Then it was Baby Dinosaurs, that I picked up for for 2 bucks from Chapters. Right now, it's "Away We Go", which is an Elmo book. He wants us to read it to him ALL the time (but it's not actually reading to him. He wants us to hold it while he turns the pages before we have a chance to read).

He also loves those "mini books". We have a ton of Robert Munsch and Disney ones. I suppose it's because they are small like him. LOL.

  • Last week it was "the Bernstein bears and the big road race,"  She made me read it 3-5 times everyday and loved to say "putt! putt!" While I was reading it.

This week it is "Caillou goes to work." it is part of a 6 pack of Caillou books we picked up.  She seems to have a weekly rotation of which one is her favorite.
