Does everyone have their cribs on the lowest setting?

Yesterday, my husband and I were playing with our daughter, who was sitting on the floor, when she saw something she wanted to play with and pulled up on a table to a standing position!  Holy cow, we are not ready for a stander yet!  We hurried to lower the crib to its lowest setting last night, and we have plans to secure our TV to the table it sits on and take care of other necessary baby proofing this week!

Has everyone else already lowered their crib and baby proofed?  Time flies so quickly!

Re: Does everyone have their cribs on the lowest setting?

  • We still need to do some baby proofing around the house.

We lowered the crib a couple of weeks ago when Aria started to pull herself into a sitting position using her Sleep Sheep. :)

  • Ours haven't pulled up yet, thank god.  I have a herniated disc and I am not looking forward to the cribs being lower.  Olivia tried to pull up on the couch on Saturday but had no luck.

My girls are sitting up fine now, but they can't actually get themselves into a sitting position.  Can anyone else's baby get themselves into that position?  How long is it after they can sit that they can get themselves up?

  • We lowered our crib to the middle setting last weekend.  Dd can't pull herself up yet though I think it's just a matter of time.  We were moving and I had to take the crib apart and put it back together, so I figured I'd lower it while I was at it too.

  • DD can't pull herself up to standing yet, so we've got a little more time. We have a lot of baby proofing to do around the house yet. We've been putting it off because she still isn't crawling, but we should probably get around to that.

  • DH and I were discussing this just yesterday! We have not done much outside of outlet covers, but are soon going to get cabinet locks and gates. DS is army crawling, and is moving pretty fast, but not pulling up or real crawling yet. He can sit up if someone puts him in that position, but can't put himself in it yet. However, after he has tried to back dive out of things at home and at daycare, we will need to do some work with the crib soon! Maybe I'll look into that later this week.
  • Sophie can't even sit up by herself for more than a few seconds without toppling over, so I think we're safe for a little while longer.
  • No. LO hasn't pulled up on her own yet.

No.  Our baby hasn't pulled up yet.

This, and I am so glad, because we still have to sand, paint and put the new floor in the living room...he is so close to crawling, though, and all I hear is the clock ticking...

  • We haven't even lowered it to the middle position yet.  Lucia doesn't sit on her own, and definitely isn't pulling up yet.

  • No rolling or pulling himself up here :(  Crib is still at higher setting.

Yeah, half of our kitchen cupboards haven't had doors in 2+ years now.... we should probably start getting those back up.

  • We just lowered to the middle setting this weekend.  William figured out how to get himself from laying on the floor to sitting AND he figured out how to push and pull himself from sitting to standing!!  We were frantically lowering the crib yesterday.  At the middle setting he would have a hard time pulling himself up.

We aren't rolling yet either. We do sit on our own and I barely hold her when she puts weight on her legs to stand. I really think she realizes we'll carry her everywhere when needed so she won't roll/crawl. Wouldn't YOU want to be carried everywhere? lol I'm not worried about the crib or babyproofing

  • DS will sit on his own if I put him in that position, but he can't sit up on his own from lying flat. Same with standing, so we're safe for the time being.  We haven't done much babyproofing yet ... I guess we should get on that soon.

  • Yes--after she just pulled up like it was no big deal, we just looked around at our living room at all the stuff that will now be accessible to her, with the combo army crawl-pulling up bag of tricks!   Yikes!

I guess we should head to BRU for some baby proofing gear after work today.

Our February babies are getting so big...

  • No, not yet. He's not pulling up.

  • We haven't, yet. J hasn't pulled up, or even shown signs that he's realized it's a thing that can be done. He is a great sitter, though, so it's probably not long.

He also doesn't use the crib overnight yet, just for naps, so we're always awake when he's in it. Pulling up will be the end of the co-sleeper, which makes me a little sad.

    Time is definitely flying!

  • Yes, we have the crib on the lowest setting because this is what Skyler does when you put her down for a nap and she isn't ready:

Thankfully, the first time she pulled up was in her pnp in my room while I was watching her.  Otherwise, who knows what she would have done overnight in her crib.  She can go from lying to sitting and she pulls up on everything!!!  I can barely keep up with this munchkin.
