February 2013 Moms

im not ready to cave in yet!

Im still not showing that much on my bump but all my pants are super uncomfortable and tight now. I've tried the bella band. It's nice but rolls up on me so it gets rather annoying. I dont want to cave into maternity wear just yet.. but argh...what choice do i have Angry

Any ladies have possible suggestions before i end up shopping for some maternity clothes this week??

Oh! on a brighter note! we got our crib yesterday!!! So nice to finally have something in the babies room, making it feel like its real Big Smile

  • I caved last week and purchased some items online, but lately I've been wearing a lot of dresses. They are so much more comfortable than pants. When I do wear pants I wear the B Band from Target and I fold it in half so it's only covering my open zipper and not my stomach.

  • Have you considered going up a size or two? You could always purchase a pair of pants from a consignment store until you're ready to make the switch. That's what I did with my first pg because the maternity pants looked ridiculous on me until I was past 20 weeks.

  • The rubberband/hairband trick is popular - take a rubberband and loop it around the button on your jeans, through the button hole and then around the button again. I'm not sure if I explained it clearly, but you probably get the idea. It'll make your pants/shorts last longer.

  • I'm I the same boat as you. I'm almost 13 weeks and none of my pants fit comfortably but I'm feel stupid wearing maternity clothes bc my stomach is still so smalL. I recently purchased a few dresses for work and wear mostly maxi dresses on the weekends. Like someone else suggested try using a rubber and to keep your regular pants closed and just wear a longer shirt to cover. I'll probably cave and get a pair of maternity pants within the next month or so :)
  • I tried using the bella band and hair tie last week and I definitely prefer the bella band over the hair tie.  However, on Saturday I put on a pair of maternity jeans that I had purchased and OMG SO MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE.  I'm officially in love.  I have a very, very small bump and could get away with my regular jeans with a band but this is so much better.  I say give in :-)  You'll have to wear maternity clothes eventually and the comfort factor is amazing.

thats what i was thinking as well. Im a tiny gal so i figured maternity might look/feel kinda odd right now until im showing more (closer to the 20 wks like you said). And smart thinking on just doing consignment stuff. I feel less guilty on the purchase when its so much cheaper!

Btw for the gals that are saying dresses and such.. I have been in this incredibly lazy mood and need for comfort clothes. So that also implies i haven't shaved my legs in ages haha! Just not feeling it. Not sure the coworkers would appreciate the harry leg look!

  • I second the last comment...give in!  I gave in last week and it's amazing.  I can't believe I let myself be that uncomfortable when I didn't have to be.  I bought one pair of maternity jeans from old navy that do not have the full panel.  It's just the 3 inch stretch part on top.  I also bought a black and a gray fold over cotton skirt.  I would live in these three items if I could.  Plus, like someone else said, you'll only be wearing  your maternity clothes for so long, so get your money's worth :)

THIS!! I don't really need to be in maternity clothes yet either, but the belly band annoyed me and if I went up a size in pants the legs/booty were too baggy. Maternity clothes rock!! I fold down the panel part so it's only on my bump and not all the way up to my bra. I may have to wear maternity clothes even after LO gets here...they are sooooooo comfy!

  • I would go to Gap or Old Navy and check their jeans out. I got a couple of pairs with my last pg that looked like jeans or dress pants all the way into the waist band. And the waist band still had belt loops. They work for early pregnancy and after your belly gets really big they sit under your belly....I didn't care for them at that point, I liked the full panel later on.

Maxi dresses and skirts are my lifesaver. I'm in the same boat and just lazy to shave my legs all that often.

I'm currently wearing a maxi dress to work right now with a stylish t-shirt over and a long bf type cardi over it with a belt to make it work appropriate. So flippin comfy right now.

  • What is a maxi dress???

This to both!  The bella band drove me crazy by half way through the day and I was going to have to buy a special wardrobe of shirts that were long enough to cover how low the band was. I got a pair of maternity jeans at Old Navy that have the three inch woven waist.  They fit just like regular jeans.  I'm not sure how much I will like them after I get really big, but for now they fit perfect and look like regular jeans and I figure I will wear them after LO gets here.
