One of my best friends is pregnant with twins and is really stressing out about the financial piece as well as imagining life with two babies. Do any of you have recommendations for books that are straight forward with what to expect/preparing without being over the top scary/intense for someone who is experiencing anxiety? Any other suggestions would be great. I want to support her in this journey and thought this would be the best board to ask:)
Thanks ladies!
Re: Book suggestions for friend preg w/twins and freaking out
I have seen these 2 books recommended by many on this board:
Mothering Multiples

When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads

It can be overwhelming at first, but it just takes time. Educating herself will probably be helpful in calming her nerves.
GL!
This.
I liked both books. I also read Ready or Not Here We Come. It was also good. I read Twin Sense and didn't like it very much.
ETA: Also, not to be rude, but your friend doesn't need a book that will sugar coat twins. It's hard being a parent to twins and the pregnancy is high risk. It's time for her to come to terms with the situation and put her big girl panties on. ALL books about multiples are somewhat overwhelming because any responsible author that would take the time to write a book wants you to know the reality of the situation. Sorry if that seems blunt or rude.
I understand the financial stress, especially since losing my job in March. But, when it comes down to it, you don't have a choice and you just deal. You'll get by one way or another.
I found that reading too much made me MORE stressed, and I had to quit for a while because it made me SO paranoid that I couldn't get through a day without an anxiety attack, especially in my first trimester. I got two books from the library though that I LOVED! Twins 101 and Twinspiration. Twinspiration was actually pretty humorous in the beginning too!
Make a pregnancy ticker
Mothering Multiples is a great read if she wants to BF.
When You're Expecting Twins, Trips, or Quads is primarily about pregnancy but a must-read IMO.
I also loved Raising Twins. It has a lot of practical advice and it's written by a pediatrician and mother of twins (plus an older sibling!) so I enjoyed reading it.
I am also enjoying reading Raising Twins.
