Babies: 3 - 6 Months

For those with babies still in your bedroom

What are they sleeping in?

We had DS in a bassinet, but he is growing too long for it. I had a Graco Travel Lite Crib which I had been planning on using next, but I just read that the weight limit is 15lbs, and DS weighs more than this.

If you're planning on making it to six months in your room, what are you using?

  • We have DD in her crib we decided we would just move the crib to her room when we feel like it's time to let her sleep in there. Although we're lucky to have french type doors in the bedroom and her room is on the same floor as ours so it won't be difficult to move the crib.

  • We are using a pack n play that has a bassinet.  DD outgrew her bassinet awhile ago and now she just sleeps flat in the PNP.

Our LO was sleeping in a co- sleeper bassinet in a big pack and play.  But her sleep lately was not very great and we noticed she naps so well in our bed.  So we moved her crib mattress to our room on the floor.  She is back to sleeping better at night.  She will stay in our room until 6 months and then we will decide to transition or leave her longer.  I enjoy having her in our room for now.

  • Our LO sleeps in her crib (in her room) from about 10pm-6am, and then sleeps in our bed until we get up to start the day. But some nights she just sleeps in our bed. She sleeps as long as we do, so it works!

  • We have a big room, so her crib is in it, but she ends up in our bed by midnight to nurse.

  • We have an old fashioned rocking cradle.  DH actually slept in it when he was a baby.

  • We have the travel lite crib with stages. Only the bassinet stage is up to 15 lbs. Then it drops down to another stage which has a likit of 20 lbs. We have had it in that stage for a while now because DS exceeded 15 lbs at a month and a half old. He doesnt seem to notice the difference and it isnt all that much of a pain for us either with him being lower in the crib.

If the crib mattress is on the floor, aren't you worried she will roll right off it?

Yes, she isn't rolling yet but I have thought of that.  We tried the mattress on a whim and she has slept great but I told my dh that when she starts rolling we will have an issue.  My thought is to move the crib in, his thought is to buy a mat.

  • Pack N Play when she's in our room....... if she's sick or not feeling well, I'l let her sleep on top of the covers with me (with pillows NOT on the bed).

  • DS sleeps in a Rock & Play in our room.  We'll probably start to transition him once he hits 6 months.

  • Thanks everyone. I don think ours has the stages, I think it's just bassinet, or right to the bottom. I'll have to double check the manual, though. Ithought about having him in the main part without the bassinet part, but I think that might be a pain the bend down to pick him up.

  • We bought a mini crib to put in our room. We have a pack n play but the bassinet part of it is only up to 15 lbs, and I thought it would be way too hard to bend down and get him from the bottom part of the pnp.

  • We have the crib right up against our bed with one of the sides down (so it's sort of like an extension of our bed).

  • My LO is tiny and still fits in the moses basket.  So he's in that or the bed.
