Any other twin mommies struggling to lose their pregnancy weight? My boys are 10 month old today and I am still 20lbs up. I have struggled w/depression and new mommy issues, but at almost a year old I feel that I should be back to my pre-oregnancy wt. I've lost 2/3 of my total weight gain but these last 20lbs are defintely a struggle. I exercise 5 days/wk - aerobics, spinning, step, kickboxing. You name it & I'm doing it. I've seen the dietician, tried wt watchers and I'm now up 2.5lbs. Really!! Any advice, tips, words of encouragement would be very welcome.
Re: weight loss struggle
Im still up 30lbs and it really sucks, I miss my clothes!!! I have been watching what I eat and I try to go for walks when its not super hot out but otherwise Im not getting a ton of excersize outside of chasing the boys around yet. I just dont get a break from them long enough to work out. Im sure it will come off at some point, dont beat yourself up over it. Keep up the good work as a mommy
Oh, it has been a journey.
To be fair, I've spent almost my entire adult life yoyo-ing within about a 20-lb range. I lost that 20 lbs to get to the bottom of that range right before we started TTC, then gained 54 lbs during pregnancy. I lost 35 lbs in the first two weeks and then got stuck for a while (but also wasn't sleeping, did some stress-eating, people were so kindly bringing us all this wonderful, fattening food ... or I think I would've lost at least another 10 lbs without too much effort).
At 4m pp, I had 22 lbs left to lose. (Yes, I'd regained a few.) I did WW and 30DS and lost about 10. Then I started yoyoing for a long time and was usually within 10-15 lbs of pre-pg weight.
Finally this spring--when Weight Watchers and MFP and working out had completely quit working for me--I tried the Dukan Diet. I modified it a bit (so I was eating protein plus veggies almost every day instead of having pure protein days, once I got into the Cruise phase) and finally lost the weight and am now 1-3 lbs below pre-pg weight, depending on the day. I think my body had become really resistant to dieting after dieting off and on for so long, and it seemed like Dukan helped reset my metabolism. I'm sure it's not for everyone and initially I wanted to stick to something more "balanced," but when the balanced approaches didn't work, Dukan did, and now (in the Stabilization phase) my diet is healthier and more balanced than ever.
Hang in there; you'll get there! It's tough, especially with the busyness of taking care of infant multiples. Hard to find time to take good care of yourself. You might need to experiment with some different approaches to find one that works for you now.
