I have a group of friends from work that all pitched in to get a couple gifts. But, only one of them was able to come to the shower. She told me that not all the gifts had arrived in time. I received a hooded towel and washcloths but the card didn't say what the other gifts were. I'm not sure when I'll receive the items. Should I send a ty note to each of them now for this gift an another one when I receive the rest of the gift?
There is a similar situation with my grandmother/aunt. My aunt was sick the weekend of my shower, so they didn't come. They went waaaay overboard on gifts. My dad brought me two convertible car seats from them and a jumperoo but said they would give me the other gifts in person sometime soon. So, same question applies here.
TIA
Re: Thank you note question
If you know a bunch of items are coming, then I would call out a few items in your tak you note and add, plus all the baby essentials. I think it's a little awkward when TY notes become like packing receipts anyway.
As long as your note is heartfelt and personal, you will be fine.
For your coworkers I would send the thank you now and mention what you did get and then just mention the gifts that are still to come and how generous they all were.
For your grandmother and aunt I would thank them for what you got so far and then send an addtional thank you after you get the other stuff.
He's the single greatest thing I've done in my life and reminds me daily of how fun (and funny) life can be. He's turned out pretty swell for having such a heartless and evil mother.
I think this is good advice.
