When did you go into labor with your VBAC?

I never labored with my first since it was a scheduled CS due to being breech (39w5d). I'm trying to figure out a date to 'have on the hospital schedule' for a RCS in the mean time (policy for VBAC candidates). I want to give my body enough time to go into labor and try to VBAC and my doc is fine with waiting until 42 weeks to schedule the RCS if I haven't labored naturally yet. Just curious,when did you all go into labor with your births and/or VBAC's?

Wait until 42 weeks, just in case. Most providers aren't willing to wait that long, it sounds like you have a good one!

I was late with both my kids -DS1 was a week late, and DS2 was probably about ten days late (I was fuzzy on my conception date).

I went into labor the day before my due date with DD2. I had her 4 hours before her due date. DD1 was induced at 39w2d and that labor and delivery eventually led to the c/s. I would see how long they would let you go and try to get them to wait as long as you are comfortable. Personally, my cut off was around 41 weeks, but everyone is different.

If your doc is fine letting you go to 42 weeks, then I would say do it.

My midwife group would let me go to 42 weeks and then induce.

Labor started the morning after my membrane sweep, so I was 41w1d (which is average onset for first-time natural labor). DS was born the following early evening.

With my first I had him the day before my due date. With my second I went into labor at 39 weeks 2 days, but she was born two days later via c/s. With my VBAC I went into labor at 39 weeks 3 days and had her the same day. I would have been allowed to go until 42 weeks if she diden't come on her own.

Take the 42 weeks. My ob would let me got to 42 weeks. I think it took the pressure off. I went at 40w 3d. I would have been more stressed if I had a ticking time clock.

Definitely wait until 42 weeks. DS1 came at 40w5d via CS. DS2 came at 39w0d via VBAC.

Thanks for this thread! It is helping me make my decision. My doc suggested that I at least schedule my C-section in case I change my mind. I can always cancel too, but I figured that If I get to around 42 weeks... I might not be changing my mind! I am thinking of scheduling between 41 and 42 weeks depending on what times and what doctors are available.

I agree, wait til 42 weeks since your provider is willing to wait. Everything I have read indicates that a VBAC is more similar to a first time birth, especially if you never went into labor before your c/s. So it's likely that you will go past your due date.

I had DD at 40 weeks exactly. However I would never gone passed 41 weeks, I have seen to many bad outcomes with post term babies. I never had to schedule RCS, we were going to talk induction first.

I was induced due to pre-e concerns with DD at 39w4d and that ended in a c/s. I went into labor naturally at 39w with DS and had a successful vbac.

Yep take every day you can get. I went into labor all on my own at 41w2d with my VBAC (was facing RCS at 42 weeks). That was after my first was born via c-section at 41w4d after failed induction.

Definitely give yourself until 42 weeks. Some of us are just slower than others ...and you never know.

I had DD#1 at 42weeks 1day via c-section after induction. I never went into labor on my own.

With DD#2, they would only give me to 41weeks. Because of some other drama, I agreed to an induction at 40weeks 3days. Everything worked out beautifully.

so, I'm 0 for 2 on going into labor.

Schedule it out as far as they'll let you. It's easier on your mind that way.

I had my VBAC baby at 40w3d. I had my RCS scheduled for 40w5d and was trying to reschdule it to 41w2d at my 40w appt and there were no openings. I was so distraught after that appointment because I had shown no progress from the previous week. Thankfully labor started that night. I should have just scheduled it out as far as they would have let me to begin with.

With my first vbac I went into labor at 39wks2d. My 2nd vbac I went into labor after my 3rd membrane sweep at 40w4d, she was born 40w5d. My midwife was inducing me the morning of 40w5d, but I went into labor on my own. I only had until 41 weeks to go into labor on my own. DD wanted to cut it kinda close!
