Cloth Diapering

Tide pods? Did it fix my diaper?

I have had problems with my diapers repelling, I have done a dawn strip and also tried calgon and like 10 rinses. Pretty sure it's a build up of detergent (I use Charlie's).  So frustrated last night I put one of the clean diapers that was repelling the most in the washer so I could rinse it yet one more time when I did diaper laundry today.

I forgot it was in the washer and ran a load of sheets and used a tide pod.  My diaper came out and doesn't repel anymore!!  Are these tide pods diaper safe, or was it just a fluke since I washed with sheets?

Re: Tide pods? Did it fix my diaper?

  • You probably fixed it. A new detergent can sometimes strip out the old detergent.  Switching to tide fixed all my build up issues. Whatever proprietary stuff they have in there works. I wouldn't always use the pods because they can leave buildup too because they are liquid and you can't control the amount of detergent your using.

  • If you found that it works, congrats!!!

Why not try one more diaper with a load of regular laundry to see if it works with that one too before using it to strip the rest?

Like PP said I wouldn't use it regularly because it may cause problems of its own, but if it worked for a strip, why not?

  • If you do try it with another diaper, let us know if it works... you may have inadvertently found another way to strip!
