I didn't want to post this under the MC board in case it hurt anyone's feelings. Quick backstory. My son is 6 months old. Last month despite EBFing, charting, and PUAP I ended up pregnant. Though not the plan we were thrilled. I ended up spotting for over a week. Betas went down, then up slowly, then down by half. I never got higher than a beta of 250. Its been four weeks and I took a test because I have been super nauseated. It was a really faint positive. Could this still be from my last MC? Should I call my OB to make sure I didn't retain some tissue. (I had a D&C with my first mc so never worried about it) I know now is NOT the right time, but the PGAL brain in me is hoping that I am pregnant again. Which is scary anyway because my OB wanted to do testing ASAP after I find out I'm pregnant. Any input would help. I'm sorry I know this is jumbled. If you want I can link my chart too. I didn't start temping again till after the bleeding stopped.

Re: Question about how long it took for your betas to drop to zero
Unfortunately, it varies widely both between women, and within the same woman. Example: I've had multiple losses and it's taken anywhere from a week to more than 13 weeks to reach zero. And that latter was from a pg I lost at 5.5 weeks, where the beta never got over about 1300. In comparison, it took less than three weeks to reach zero after my twins that made it to 10 weeks with a very high beta.
The only way to know for sure if this is a new or old pg is to keep testing your HCG. You can do it yourself with HPTs, and if the line remains after a week or so, go see an OB, or, if you want to know sooner, have your OB run betas two days apart to see if they're increasing or decreasing. GL
First off, I'm very sorry for your loss.
I would definitely call your doctor. You obviously still have some HcG in your system (the faint positive test), so s/he should order bloodwork approx. 48 hrs apart. If the number is dropping, it's probably left over HcG from your m/c, If the numbers double, you could be pg again and then you can start your treatment plan with your doctor. Regardless, this warrants a call to the doctor.

I'm going to try and keep updating this in case someone goes through this too and is looking for answers. I called my OB and she ordered a beta. I'm going to head to the hospital soon and usually get the results after two hours. I'm also debating calling to see if they can add on a progesterone too since that is what they are thinking my problem is anyway.
ETA: Ok they just called me back. She changed her mind and wants to start with a urine test in a doctor's office then if its positive then she will start betas on Monday. Well the NP is the one ordering this since my OB is gone. I'm kind of pissed.....since the whole reason she wanted to know right away is my history.....

It can be so different for everyone. With my last two miscarriages, my betas were negative and I got AF exactly 31 days after D&C... so pretty much a normal cycle for me.
