TTC after 35

Interesting BBT link

Based on +opk and cramping I'm pretty convinced I already O'd but because we were having sex first thing in the morning this week, I haven't temped the last few days. Today I woke up an hour earlier than usual and was disappointed to see my temp was still low, I'm going away for the weekend w/o DH so if I haven't O'd yet I'm out this cycle.

Did some googling about time differences when temping and found this bbt calculator. No clue what this is based on but it made me feel a little better and is interesting nonetheless.

Any BBT experts now if an hour earlier can really make a difference?

Re: Interesting BBT link

  • Well, I'm certainly no expert, but based on my experience from the past few weeks, a difference of +/- an hour can make a difference.  I noticed that if I measured my temp more than 30 minutes before or after my usual time (6AM), it jumped around quite a bit.  Today, I believe I did see a real temperature rise because I took my temp at 6AM, and it was 0.4-0.6 degrees higher than what I have normally seen at 6AM.

  • I'm by no means an expert, but I have noticed a very small, if any change in temp as long as I am a half hour to an hour of within my usual time.
  • For myself, I only notice a difference if I sleep less/longer than usual-- but it doesn't matter what actual time I get up. My RE told me that as long as I'm getting the same amount of sleep, my temps should be accurate. But he also said that it's about the trends, not each individual temp, so I should make sure I get enough sleep and not get up before I want to if I'm tired in order to keep my temps exact! LOL

I also move around a lot right before I wake up, so if I wake up earlier than my body wants to, I will register a lower temp than if I wake up after my usual amount of sleep. So waking up an hour earlier could definitely throw your temp off, if you're like me.

I have also noticed, too, that if I have the AC on and the thermometer isn't under my pillow, it registers really low temps. So did anything change with the thermometer?

I would BD as close to the time of separation as possible, just in case, and then give yourself a couple days to see what happens with your temp.

  • Well it went up quite a bit today, I did roll around a little before I took it at my regular time though. I'm a bit dubious about the thermometer I'm currently using, every once in a while it lets out a sound like a sick cow mooing or something.  I think the battery might be low. We'll see how tmrw's temp goes.
