Challenge... Have you been to a chiropractor?

After having a migraine for at least a month (it's all blurred together), DH talked me into going to a chiropractor yesterday. Oh.My.GOD do I feel fantastic today! I've always had jacked up hips. While poking and prodding me, the chiro said he wanted to see my legs. He had me hold them out in front of me, and holy hell my left leg was shorter than my right. He twisted me up, body slammed me and checked again, and they were the same length. Apparently my left hip was up and out of it's effing socket! Then he tried to rip my head off from several angles. After much cracking, my eyes no longer felt like they were melting in their sockets. I slept like a baby last night. I usually toss and turn because my hips and neck hurt so bad. I didn't move for 7 hours straight! I love this guy and will gladly give him a kidney or lung or something should he ever need it. The relief I feel is priceless.

So... have you ever been to a chiropractor? How was it? If you've never been, is there a reason other than never needing an adjustment?

  • Both of my parents are/were physical therapists and very anti chiropractors so I've never been to one.

  • I was in a car accident in HS with two of my friends. One of them went to a chiropractor after and I went with her to one of the appointments. Scarred me for life, it looked like we was going to break her. She swore it was amazing and didn't hurt but seeing it from the other side of the table was bad.

That was also almost 20 yrs ago so procedures may have changed.

  • I've never been, but you've about sold me on it now.   My hips hurt all the time!  Maybe when I'm not pregnant...  I wonder if my insurance would cover it though...

  • Your post has me cracking up. I'm glad you feel better!!

I've never been to them b/c I've always been skeptical. My OB said he'd refer me to one b/c of my bad sciatica, but I declined.

I never liked them. I went twice and they were annoying. My friend is a PT and never has anything good to say about chiropractors either.

Did anyone see this article about this chiropractor ad?

  • I had never been before but I was really uncomfortable at about 30weeks last pregnancy and I knew I couldn't make it another 10 weeks like that.  My doula recommended a woman who specialized in prenatal & children and she was amazing.  I went 3 times and felt great.  She did low impact stuff  so no bending, cracking, or twisting.

I considered taking Kayla a month or so ago because I could tell something was wrong (turns out she's milk/soy protein intolerant).

  • I have several times but I've never had a good experience.  My muscles are always so darn tight that they can't adjust me.  It's awful.  One of my legs is slightly longer, too, but again they can't seem to adjust it.

  • Yes, I have been. I love it. I always find it helpful. I went to one when I was a teenager for recovery after a sprained neck. I then sprained my back in high school and college. I then fell about 5 years ago, and I usually fall every winter on the ice. Not the last two though yeah!! I only go as needed.Maybe a couple times a year. I really like the guy, and he does always want me to come back more than I want to so we have an understanding when I feel I am good then no more appts. at the same time when I call they get me in fast becuase they know I need it. DH though is very skeptical, but I have always found it helpful.

  • My guy is a massage therapist as well, so that may have added to my bliss. He spent so much time massaging and using acupressure before he even attempted to adjust me. It was like the best of both worlds. I can see how it would be horrifying for some one looking in, though. The neck adjustments scared me a little. He said as I progress in my pregnancy, he can help if I start to swell, have sciatica or if I have carpal tunnel. I really feel like I lucked out by going to this guy. He explained everything he was about to do and really made me feel at ease.

  • My dad (and both of my great-grandparents) are/were chiropractors. I've been getting adjusted since I was a baby and now that I don't live near my parents, I get adjusted up here. Love it and the health benefits are amazing.

  • I've been going since I was about 4 years old thanks to a horrible accident involving a log truck    The guy who pulled me out of the car and pulled all the glass out of my hair and clothes turned out to be the chiropractor that adjusted me a few days later.  I've been going to him ever since and it is the best feeling ever! I need to make an appointment
