LO is such a loud sleeper!

We still have LO sleeping in the pack n' play in our room but that little bugger is so loud when he sleeps I reconsider this everyday in favor of moving him to his own room. He generally sleeps soundly from 9 or 10 until 1 or 2, and then maybe even again from 2 until 5 but generally after 5 he starts to be a big ol' mess of grunting, clearing his throat, and yells. He's not awake at this point, he does all of that in his sleep, and if you pick him up he'll still be passed out. What gives? Anyone else have a baby like this and have any solutions? We wonder if he's working out his farts because he's a very gassy baby but why wouldn't he do it all night if that was the case?

On a related note, I hesitate to move him to his own room because I'm nervous that I won't hear his cries on the monitor and won't be able to wake up for him. How do I get past that? I would feel so terrible if he cried in his crib and I didn't respond.

Re: LO is such a loud sleeper!

  • My LO grunts ALL NIGHT LONG and he doesn't sleep for anywhere near as long as yours!

If it's disturbing your own sleep that much you should totally move him into his own room. I'm considering this myself. They say that both babies and mommies sleep better that way sometimes, especially if the mom is likely to disturb the baby if she thinks he's awake.

If the baby room isn't far away or you have a monitor you'll have no problem hearing your baby if he's crying and really needs you.

  • We have the exact.same.child.   It is sooo annoying and its crazy that he's still asleep through all of it.

Haha I know they say infants are noisy sleepers but this is ridiculous :)

Oh no how do you get any sleep?? I'm thinking about trying just putting him in his crib after his 5am feeding and seeing how that goes. I'm less dead asleep from 5-7 or 8 so I feel more confident that he'd wake me up if he needed. It's just across the hall but we sleep with white noise - I'd probably have to turn that off when he's in his room so I could hear more. So many things to worry about, I never knew why people had such hard times moving LOs to cribs until now.

OMG I could have written this post myself!  Last night she was so loud and I was so exhausted, I started freaking out that something was wrong with her.  If I pick her up she's quiet.  It needs to stop!

  • I use a loud noise machine and ear plugs. This is mainly to block out DH's snoring and I was worried I wouldn't be able to do that with the baby, but I can hear a cry very easily because it is so high pitched. But it blocks out most other baby sounds.

  • My LO is the same! We actually moved his pack n play out of our room and into the den (our room is right off the den) That way we can definitely hear him when he cries, but with the white noise machine on, some of his grunts are inaudible from our room. It has helped SO MUCH and now I can actually get more than 15mins of sleep at a time. I was waking up at every tiny noise so it has been a life saver for both DH and I!

    Good luck!
