Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Anyone actually put shoes on their baby?

I have so many cute shoes I got as gifts from people but I never put them on DD.  They are so freakin' cute but they just don't look too comfy and they are not that practical.   I kind of like just bare feet on a little baby.  My mom is always yelling at me because I never put shoes on her.

  • I put shoes on DS sometimes, but usually when we're going out to dinner or something like that.  I think baby shoes are adorable.  He wears socks everyday because his feet are really clammy and sweaty without them.

He usually only has shoes on when he is in his walker to protect his toes ..he is just a hair shy of reaching properly so the shoes help...other than that he is bare feet or socks 99% of the time

  • I don't because someone told me it was bad for foot development. I don't know if there's any truth to that or not. I probably will start putting shoes on him more often when it gets cold, but in the summer, it's just too hot!

  • Nope.  She gets so hot anyways and it seems shoes would make it worse.  And she hates socks - she gets them off in about 10 seconds every time!

  • B is barefoot more often than not. But, if her toes are cold, we put on socks. She won't be wearing shoes until she's toddling. The socks she wears look like "shoes", which I think are much cuter. I don't see the point of wearing shoes if she isn't using her feet to toddle or walk.

  • I only did once and it was because my SIL bought them and kept asking if they fit. They fit right now so I had them on her last weekend when we visited her. Otherwise she is barefoot.

  • Nope. I tried once... it was cute, but they just strike me as silly. So they can look cute sitting on a shelf in her room, and my DD can enjoy the breeze on her toes :)

  • I wish I could, they are so cute. Apparently my DD has tiny feet though - NB size shoes don't even fit her yet!

  • We started once he began to crawl because he was getting these rug-burn like blisters on the tops of his feet & toes.

Honestly I wish we did much earlier, because now he's not used to them and he HATES them! It's such a battle just to get them on!

  • Hardly ever! I usually do not even put socks on him.

  • I guess I am with the minority but DS wears shoes all the time when we go out.  He even has sandles for when it's hot. I just think they are too adorable and we got so many pairs that we might as well get use of them!

  • Walking=using shoes, just my opinion :)

  • No shoes here. I put some on once for a wedding but my boy has such long feet and he seemed uncomfortable. He usually wears socks that look like shoes, or bare feet.

    This exactly.

  • I put shoes on her. Not everyday, but if she happens to have a pair that match her outfit then I do. But, usually when we are home I keep her feet bare and then put them on when we go out somewhere.

  • He has a pair.of sneakery looking ones and a pair of sandals that I put on him when we go out somewhere special, like a family party or something. Otherwise he is barefoot or has little socks that look oike shoes.

  • No, never. I don't see the point, she's a baby. Also she can't even keep a pair of socks on so I'd just end up with a bunch of single shoes like my giant single sock pile that I've just given up on. I'm just thankful its summer and she doesn't need socks!

  • I haven't put any shoes on lo yet.  But I did buy a pair on clearance yesterday because with cold weather coming he will need more on his feet.

  • I haven't bought any, but we have a few pairs that were given as gifts.  If the we are seeing the giver, I put them on ;)  Otherwise, only socks or barefoot.  I love the little trumpette socks that look like shoes.

  • Only when we are going somewhere fun! She has a million pairs of shoes so we just put them on to see family and then they come off after a few minutes. It's good to have them wear shoes, hats, sunglasses, etc, so they get used to it. Ok maybe not sunglasses haha!  I have a few friends with 1 year old who have battles with their kids about putting on shoes and hats.

This.  She's got lots of cute ones & I'm hoping they start to fit real soon!

  • DS doesn't even have a pair of shoes yet!  Baby shoes are cute, but impractical and he likes playing with his toes.  Plus, it's too hot here anyways so he gets to hang out like a little hillbilly!

  • I use them ALL THE TIME. Especially if he will be out in public. I am a germ freak and cant imagine his little feet getting dirty.

He has tons of little shoes. So far the Ugg style boots fit the best because they come up high and he cant kick them off like the others.

  • We put shoes on LO when we go out, especially on Sundays for church.  But we don't really ever use them at home or on quick outings to the grocery store, etc. I love to use them when we can - think they're so adorable.  I hadn't thought about any developmental issues though, most of ours are soft shoes anyway so maybe those don't have as much of an impact...need to look into this.

  • same here...  we topped off with something like 15 pairs of shoes at the baby shower... we have an auntie with a shoe addiction ;-) I plan on making them into christmas tree ornaments and giving them to our friends and family lol!
