Mommy Survival Kit

I am planning on giving a "Mommy Survival Kit" to my friend for her baby shower and need some ideas from others as to what I should put in it.  I'm thinking of the critical "couldn't have made it through the first few weeks without them" items.  She has a TON of people coming so I'm sure she will get lots of stuff for her LO, so I figured I'd do something different.  We are pretty close so it shouldn't be too embarassing for her to open up!

In a nice basket I'm going to put: pads, full butt underwear, witch hazel pads, the cooling spray, nipple cream (the Medela kind.)  What else should I put in there??  TIA!

  • Tylenol, I had a C-section but I imagine any birth warrants some Tylenol. Also, maybe takeout menus? Is that silly? I know I needed them!

  • Tylenol and take-out menus will be a perfect addition to the basket!

  • What a thoughtful idea!

Does she have a favorite coffee or tea? Caffeine was my best friend those first few weeks! (I didn't BF.)

Also I loved Epsom Salt baths! So maybe pick up some of that?

  • Kleenex with lotion/Puffs Plus.

Scrunchies/hair elastics if her hair is long, or a headband.

    Nice slippers.

Soft fuzzy robe and/or button up or wrap style shirts (for looking 'decent' quickly when people come over, I kind of lived in pajama pants and a nursing bra/nursing tank for the first two weeks, and having a robe/shirt handy made me feel more able to deal with people)

  • Nursing pads, a giant candy bar, chap stick, coffee/tea/cappicino (decaf if nursing), def tylenol or ibprofen of some kind.

    Nice gift idea!

  • This might be a better idea for someone that's not too far along but a bra extender would have been helpful. I didn't think of getting one until I had already bought new bras.

  • Stool softeners!!!! And snacks, like trail mix and candy. Maybe a reusable water bottle?

  • if she is going to be nursing- lanisoh gel soothies, nursing tank, maybe a nice set of nursing pj's, snacks that are easy to eat on the go- larabars or something like that, hand sanitizer- went through that like crazy the first few weeks.
  • Cool idea! I second Stool Softeners. They were my best friend. Also, I bought a bottle of witch hazel and mixed some with a little bit of water, poured on a maxi pad, and froze them. I had lots of stitches and they felt soooooo good on the swelling. So maybe a bottle of witch hazel in addition to the Tucks.
