December 2010 Moms

Challenge.. I am bummed!

It is not the end of the world, I know but my BFF just accepted a job on the west coast and we live in the Midwest. She will be moving within the month. Ever since having DD our relationship has changed, but has been as strong as ever. She was there when DD was born (not in the room) and every day for the first 6 weeks. (No joke, she stopped every day after work to see us, after calling to see if I needed anything.) We still see her 3-5 times a week. She is always up for dinner shopping whatever and DD is almost always with us. She does not mind. She is DD's guardian if anything happens to us. I am excited for her and this change, but to be honest I am so heartbroken. I know it is the best for her, but i am allowed to be sad right?

  • I hear you.  My best friend moved away when I was 18.  She moved to North Carolina and I am still in RI.  We talk as much as possible and try to see each other 1 time a year(didn't get to see her this year though Sad).  She just had her second baby last week and I talked to her today for the first time since she gave birth and then I was kinda sad that I couldn't be there to meet her new baby.  Made me miss her a bunch.

  • Wow, that sucks. Friends like that are hard to come by. I don't even have any friends who I see once a week. I'm sorry :(

  • I get ya!  I moved to the West coast from Minneapolis and away from my BFF.  It was hard for both of us.  Then she one upped me and moved to Bolivia a couple years ago.

  • Sounds like an awesome friend. I can understand why you're bummed. It sounds like your relationship is strong enough to weather being far away from one another, though - and maybe you can start planning a trip to the west coast? I'm sorry, though, I'm sure you'll really miss having her around.

i hope so. I already told DH that DD and I will be going there next summer at the latest. He is welcome to come too, but we are going. She has been such a big part of all our lives there was no disagreement on his part.

  • Aw, that does sound sad! I'm sorry :(  It's going to be lonely for you until you get used to her being gone. Do you have some other friends you can use to distract yourself? (that sounds horrible, like that's all they are good for, but you know what I mean!)

Most of my other friends also do not have kids but also do not want kids going everywhere with them. Does that make sense? I think it is time that I make some Mom friends. Maybe this will push me too.
